Let’s not forget that those who are younger and get the infection but happen to not exhibit symptoms, will still be spreading it to other people.
No disrespect intended.  :foryou:

Just saying that we should all keep informed.

None taken 🙂

I agree being informed is the way to go.

if the organizers decide to keep it going and I am healthy then I plan to attend. I am not in the hazardous group that is most affected and killed by average thus far.

That is what I meant in my original hastily written post.

Do you have parents or grandparents that age? Does anyone you could conceivably come into contact with fall into that age range or have any preexisting health conditions that put them at higher risk? Good health is easy to take for granted.

Agreed. I worry for my older family and the way misinformation spreads nowadays.

Someone middle aged in one of my classes yesterday asked if we thought this whole thing was people trying to make POTUS look bad... Not interjecting any opinions on that here, but just be careful for your loved ones and how they get news.

I do, they live 1500 miles away, thanks for asking. :)

Answers the first question, not the second. Unless you are 1500 miles from your closest neighbor, of course.

None of my neighbors are elderly that I am aware of.

Honestly if you are concerned with it, you can stay home.  If I am not, I will not.  That is how free will works.

If the organizers deem it safe enough to have the show, then the show will go on.

Man you don't understand how poor I am.... @Robot Man @MusterMark @mysterio

I have elderly parents I visit and take care of, they're not worried and tell me to go....

I have $300 in stuff I've prepaid for photo-ops and other tickets, IF and that's a big IF Fan Expo Dallas isn't cancelled that's $300 I'm not getting refunded......

If and it seems it is ok with those involved, we should feel free to go and get what we paid for (shrug)

I completely understand the conversations going on. People should do what they feel comfortable with doing. Let's be clear, it is not on the company to close the show, it is up to the State. There is no way any business is going to close (one like this, that only meets once a year) unless they are told to. If they volunteer to close  they still have to pay for convention centers, people, ect., if they are forced to they have insurance. If you think they should close call a state representative, not the conveners.

I very much understand. I just made the tough decision to pass selling at a show here on Sunday. I will be out $250. The hardest part is the potential income I would have made. I suspect the show will be canceled anyway.

I sold at Terry O’Neil’s comic show end of Jan. A few days later I came down with a bad 2 week cold even though I saw no one or heard of anyone sick. I stayed home for a few days.

This is unprecentaded in my life time. Like a bad horror movie. No shows, no sports, no travel ect. Being inundated with bad news on the virus and the economy. I recently retired. I am in excellent health and even though I don’t feel it, I am in that “age group” I guess. I do not live in fear but I am keeping my contact with large groups of people minimal. Even, if I have no fear of concern for myself, I feel I have the responsibility not to contract a disease and pass it on to any one else.

Sadly, we as humans, need to stop thinking of ourselves and think of the greater good. Everything needs to shut down for a month or so. This needs to stop and this is the best way to do it. I can’t even imagine that the NBA would ever suspend games indefinitely. This is BIG.

This is still America and I respect your rights and mine. But, we all need to give up our rights for a limited time for the greater good.

I agree, and I don't want the boards to think I'm just jumping out in front of a car either lol

I'm conversing, reading, looking at the con site info, even if "they" don't cancel, is it up to me to then decide. Some of that $300 the old folks paid for as Christmas presents, I'd feel guilty if it killed them, I mean to judge for myself is hard enough, doing a comic con thread and being judged by others is another thing.....

How can a con in July be less of a threat than one in 2 weeks with only 6 cases reported and taken care of with no deaths. I mean is it a threat or isn't it? how is 2 months from now any different....

It's easy to point fingers is all I'm saying. It's better to have a conversation about caution, not panic and affect free will!

ya it's tough, a conversation is precaution, and I commend you for the will to be aware and excersise caution! ^^ I do the grocery shopping for my parents, I mean I do all their running around, it's a whole mess, not just the comic con, I'm not that selfish lol

Off topic for the thread, but try one of those grocery pickup services so you don’t have to go in the store. Save time and everything else.

They did cancel the st Patrick's day parade in Dallas....for next Tuesday

Edit that they said, do what local health said, local health wid cancel and so did the center for health, conversed with the speaker office, so Dallas cancelled the parade...

For those that don't know this is one of the biggest events held in Dallas every year. With the NBA and NHL cancelling the rest of their season, I can't see Dallas allowing any events in the city with mass gatherings. Unless the COVID-19 takes a drastic turn for the better I can't imagine FED being held at with the current dates.

Just found out my show on Sunday has been canceled. I don’t know if I will get my money back or not. In the 25 years I’ve been going to this monthly show it has never been canceled. Bummer...

I was going to do a local comic show next weekend. I hadn’t paid for my booth but decided to pass on it anyway. It will probably be canceled as well.

Luckily, the day before is a small comic meet up that will probably go on at least.

Sign of the times. No travel, no sport events, no junk or comic shows all being canceled by the powers that be. Some might call this Socialism but under the conditions, for the best for the greater good. If people can’t make the smart decisions for themselves. Some one is going to make the decision for us.

I’m not trying to get down on you Adamantium. I’m not judging you or your decision. I’m really not. I don’t mean to preach to anyone. I do not live in fear but this has taught me to be a little smarter. I am not going to let this get me down. By the way, this isn’t just an “old folks” problem. Two young, healthy basketball players now tested pos and have probably un knowlingly passed this on to others.

I was going to take out one of my vintage motorcycles for a rumble this morning. But it’s now pouring rain... when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Gonna go out in the garage, turn off the news, turn on some music, pop a beer and twist some bolts. Or possibly, catch up on some reading.

Stay healthy mi amigos and find something happy and positive in your life!

I just heard that baseball spring training has been also postponed...

I just felt a little backed into a corner is all lol

If cgc still goes I'll go, cause it's the cgc boards haha, but more importantly I think it will all be canceled, I felt in a corner on a "if" situation...

No harm no foul! And no worries!
