Question for Batmaniacs: OSPG notes that both Batman 49 and Detective Comics 230 contain the first appearance of the Mad Hatter. What Gives?

bat 49 is first GA appearance

tec 230 is first SA appearance

Thanks for the clarification. I've owned a beautiful copy of tec 230 for nearly 15 years. And yesterday, I purchased a nice reasonably priced copy of Batman 49 from Dale Roberts. That'll be quite a pair to own. WHen time permits, I'll scan both copies!

Well I've already posted this in my personal thread...but I'm bored and feeling a little left out in this thread so I'll post the only Tec that I own right now.

And overstreet still doesn't recognize it as his first app. I wish that ad was on the back cover page like more fun 19 which has the ad for tec 1. But who cares, you don,t slab your books anyway.and sometimes I think about cracking out a few books I never saw the interiors of

Can anyone help answer my question? The Crimson Avenger appears first in issue 20. How many issues does he appear in wearing his original costume ?

The Crimson Avenger had his original costume in issues:

20 - 29 and 37 - 43. In # 44 he has the new costume.

I just can't imagine keeping books like this locked in a slab. You should see people's eyes as you flip through them in the local comic shop. They've never seen anything like it.

To me it'd be like putting a historic document in a safe where nobody can see it.

What's the point?

True I guess in many cases. But its a little scary fliping through a book worth thousands. But man they are awesome looking through. I bought the 25 slabbed already, so I can never see the stories inside
