I’ve got a few new Atlas books recently but let’s start with this one even though they spelled my name wrong (only one t ) I’ve finally arrived…

Next up since some of us were talking about White Mountain copies earlier elsewhere my keeper is the 8.0 White Mountain copy with white pages but I couldn’t resist this 6.5 copy with white pages either since the cover is just, well, red…

Next a book I’m not sure if I still had a copy so picked this one up anyway. One of the better covers in the run imo…

Made an offer tonight to Highgradecomics and they accepted for this copy of issue #19. To me #19 and #20 are bookend copies and I picked up a #20 not to long ago in 5.5 so this copy made sense to me. Bookends both being CGC 5.5 now. Bedrock hooked me up with the #20 earlier so two great sellers provided me with these two. Here’s the twins together…

A great run and a little underpriced in my mind. When I was chasing down my Atlas pre code runs, I was drawn to this title because of all the 52 page issues. Lotsa horror for a dime back in the day!

I think the first 8 issues are 52 pages. Not sure if it was discussed here before but we all know comics got thinner as time went on (and smaller in size) with the 1950’s being the decade of the modern 32 page comic but never understood before we got there fully how Marvel did both 52 and 32 page books on the stands together for the same price. How did they decide which books would be bigger and why?

Issues 17 - 23 are also 52 pages. Stan Lee was the author for quite a few stories starting with issue 20.

Thanks. Never noticed probably since all my Suspense books buys are in CGC holders. After you mentioned it I now see the 52 page logo on some later ones.

Another addition tonight. More than I would have liked to pay for it but I got exhausted trying to find a decent copy. Goes with my cold weather/snow related Atlas issues. Anyone got a decent Marvel Tales #147 for sale now?

Read this the other day -

The tough bit about reading Atlas War books is that I then spend too much time online looking up the history of the stories presented. This one had U.S. Marine Corps history along with expanded use of helicopters in Korea and finally Marine action in Munda during WWII (an uncommon Kubert story at Atlas as a bonus). Well worth it though.

One of the Top 5 Atlas Horror Covers IMHO.

When is Marvel Going to make a Movie with the Venus character.  Could even be a series with her as a paranormal investigator.
