A couple of Astonishing wins tonight both post code. I love the colorful background characters on #39’s cover and #52 had white pages besides being a fun later run cover so….

Two great issues. I don’t actively seek those out anymore since I have most of the ones I really want. But, have always felt they are underrated. Many of Bill Everett’s best covers fall in that era.

Read this the other day. I typically lament that the early Atlas War books (1950 - 1952) are less fun than the middle years but I did enjoy this one quite a bit. I let my lack of enthusiasm for the artists (Brodsky, Bellman and Massey) sway me against the stories but taking the time to read it through, the stories raised the grade on the book overall. Still, just from the stories' titles, you can expect these to be downers: Tonight, we die!, Doom patrol, Chance. Nothing cheerful here!

Atlas War stories as a whole are better than most from other genres.

If anyone is still looking for a Venus #19 Comic Connect has a pretty nice CGC 5.5 going live at auction in about 10 days from now.

CGC 5.5’s were going for just under 8k about 2 years ago. The CGC 5.5 that sold on Heritage is entertaining offers of 24k or higher so I’m curious to see what this live one hammers at. Got to get a bump on presentation and good PQ.

Great batch of books!

What's up with the "K" in front of the price on the Mystic 1?

I believe that "K" is the distributor mark for "Kable News Co" who (correct me if I err) distributed Martin Goodman's comics until he created "Atlas" to distribute his books.
