BCarter27
Of course his writing, but he also oversaw so many great projects during his tenure as Bat editor. And I always looked forward to the From the Den columns. He was very accommodating signing my first appearance of Lady Shiva. Popular Post OuterboroGuy
I think I have mentioned in a prior post how I interned with DC as an editorial assistant while a senior in high school back in 1987. He was somewhat aloof but very nice. He biked from his place downtown to DC's offices at 666 Fifth Avenue, and kept his bicycle in the office every day, which for some reason as an 18 year old from Queens I thought was pretty funny. At the time he was overseeing a lot of the Vertigo imprint stuff if I remember correctly, and the Batman titles, and writing The Question. He reminded me of Andy Warhol for some reason. A true comics legend. ChrispyC66, JollyComics, BlowUpTheMoon and 9 others 11

paperheart
RIP I'm reminded of the story Peter David told IIRC; during a screening of Batman & Robin when Batman pulled out a credit card, Mr. O'Neill loudly sighed and walked out littledoom, Chaz G., JJ-4 and 1 other

steveinthecity
He provided me countless hours of entertainment and escapist reading for as far back as I can remember. I loved seeing his name on the page as I knew the story would be good. Ken Aldred, Larryw7, Readcomix and 1 other
mrwoogieman
Met him several times at the Big Apple Cons, he would share a table with Jim Salicrup, both very nice guys. In that environment they seemed like a couple of irreverent teenagers. RIP JJ-4

OtherEric
I'm glad I got to meet him, at least once. It's hard to overstate just how influential he was. He had a story in the Joker 80th anniversary special, published this week. I like the idea that he was creating until the very last. MatterEaterLad
RIP. He was a creator, an editor, a teacher--a giant. I have a few books that he signed (on the inside cover, old-school). I treasure those. ChrispyC66, JJ-4, SpideyFein and 1 other
piper
(I admit he's older than I thought. He must have had a late start in Comics.) Edited June 12, 2020 by piper OtherEric

Another great achievement of his is being part of the renaissance at Marvel in the 80s, as an editor. Were it not for him and others (like his boss Shooter), Marvel would probably not exist today.
