Don't knock the gorillas. Some of my favourite comics were Angel and the Ape. Sam was related to Gorilla Grodd. Angel was the sister of Dumb Bunny of Inferior Five fame.

How many bloody years have we been looking for this? 

I was ruffling through the boxes at the fair today, went past it, thought "hang on", went back and BOOM! as Mr T would say. Brilliant.

Now, it's a 1 stamp of course, which means it was a 'latecomer'. An 8 or 9 would've been even more beautiful but you can't have everything can you. So we now know that it was distributed in the UK back in the day. I wonder what lucky sod unwittingly bought it. It might be the only one!

Not a bad shipment, was it.

I have a Superman 132 that was once owned by Steve. Does that help? No stamp alas but I suspect the comic has lived in the UK for many years. Possibly since 1959?

Too late. Its gone back on the heap. This is what 2000 comics looks like. Approx 5000 "New 52" dreck and anything that said "Image" or "Valiant" in the top left corner are to be burnt at a Nov 5th party along with an effigy wearing a Batman mask. Still another 5000 to sort and then with one bound I shall be free.

Joking aside, donate them to a special needs school. A teacher recently told me it's the only thing the kids will read.

Good idea. I took 1000 to Tesco where they have a charity book table. The vultures circled and were looking the values of the  titles up on eBay whilst I was unloading them from a shopping trolly.  The only thing is sorting out which ones are kid-friendly. Ironically it is the kid-friendly Superman family stuff I'm keeping and the Tits and Gore stuff that I'm disposing of. Funny world innit when so many comics produced in the last 40 years aren't suitable for children.

Thinking of starting a separate thread for oddball international stamps. Mostly because of this one -

 

Were these distributed to these far-flung locales as part of Western's international distribution program in the 60's, or did they go out later, maybe as remainders?

And someone posted a while back about one with the distributor's (possibly retailer's) stamp from Thailand.

So it looks like Uncle Sam was getting stuff to Asia and Africa, with no though for his staunch wartime ally.

We had to wait until a couple of blokes in Leicester (wonder how they pronounce that in Noo Yawk?) got on the ball.
