If this were x-men or batman related I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go nuts.  But vintage art doesn’t typically have the volatility of the newer market, so I think a more linear growth is reasonable to expect.  Double value in 7 years is really solid growth, so I think $60-75k is a fair expectation.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go lower or higher.  Again, the underbidder will determine the price.  One guy with deep pockets or insatiable nostalgia isn’t good for an auction.  Two is.  Unless you know who’s bidding, it’s all a guess.

It's a quarter of a million piece for sure. Presents well in spite of the stat. The question remains, does this mean the OA for 23 exists as well?

To bad they don’t have another copy of #19 at auction at the same time as the original art.

So how hot is this book? Heritage just sold this 4.5 a few weeks ago for just over 6k. Not sure how everyone feels about this copy but this is not a great looking 4.5 IMO (I’ve seen 3.0’s I like better) and the book still went down over 6k.

Hi! I dont hang out on the boards very often, but many know me from other forums like FB or IG (Hi! I'm Anna!) I saw this thread and felt like putting in my two cents. 

I actually own the TADS cover. I am VERY happy that it went on the block a few years ago because if it were sold after all this CoC19 hype I may have not wanted to pay for it. Don't get me wrong, I know I paid A Lot for a Harvey cover, but it was well worth it to me!  It is currently watching me type this and is sending me sweet telepathic messages of it's love!

 I very much agree with the person who said that the interest in COC 19 seems to be generational. My husband is also a collector and he doesn't have the same love for it as I do. However, my love is strong enough for the both of us! 🤣😂🤣 It's very easy to see that the younger generation likes it more and it does have to do with the book being relatively easy to come by and cheap not that long ago. I'm a little bit of a hoarder when it comes to books so I still have many copies of it. I like it because the art is just clean and crisp looking and it speaks to me. I'm not gonna speculate what it will go for because I do plan on going after it, but I know that there are others who have deep pockets and love PCH who could easily outbid me. 

 The estimates here seem much more realistic than I have been seeing on other forums. One guy on IG even threw out a million, which is just ludicrous.  There is absolutely no way to really tell because there is not a ton to compare it to and because it has the ties to the music world.  I do strongly believe that this will not be a cover that people will be able to get into to possibly flip later. I think it's going to hit the ceiling value straight out of the gate because many of us legitimately wanna hang it on our wall. 

Anyway, those are my current thoughts! And if MrBedrock does end up with it I will love him just the same! (But he should be prepared to set up the guest room, because, I feel like it would benefit from hours of me adoring it in person!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣) As they say, all is fair in comics and sports!!.... or something like that 🤣😂🤣😂

Not smart to put water and OA in the same analogy, but, a rising tide and all 😁 OA has already skyrocketed from where it was just a few years ago.  Unless there is a crazy aweful recession (which I do not wish for because many of my friends are dealers and I care for them more than I care for my collection!) I don't see it substantially coming back to where it was. The Frezetta also kicked that rock over the edge in a pretty dramatic fashion! The coc19 is much closer to my tastes than Frezetta, so I was hoping the market would leave my stuff alone for at least a little while longer, but, doesn't seem as if that is the case.

Elias and Avison has some nice ones.  And with the abundance of high grade Harvey file copies, OA really stands out as the pinnacle of Harvey collecting to me.  On the bright side it does look like there is a lot of it out there.  Congrats again on grabbing the Teen-age Dope Slaves when you did.

Wouldn't it have been better to leave it as is and actually be more valuable without the "logo and header dressing are modern day replacements"?  Or is there validity for aesthetic reasons or to have a link to the actual comic?

My original estimate was $250,000.00. I might want to raise it to $300,000.00 after watching it shoot up after one day.
