Popular Post buttock
Loving the Farrells. What's incredible to me is that we know almost nothing about who any of the artists were. It was all farmed out to the Iger shop, but who drew what is unknown. lbcolefan, Kevin.J, adamstrange and 3 others 5

Popular Post buttock
On 2/18/2021 at 4:21 AM, Get Marwood & I said: Ramble just a little Buttock, for the benefit of those of us who weren't even alive when they were being produced - what makes them so different do you think? Well, without getting too simplistic, in the 50s the comics were stories of war instead of stories with a more tangential association with war. There were few books explicitly dedicated to war as a theme in the WWII era, and what few there were were more of a patriotic propaganda slant. The majority were hero books with the heroes battling the Axis. Then in 1950 Goodman published War Comics 1, which was stories about actual soldiers in war. Further, the stories weren't idealistic and the horrors of war weren't glossed over. For the first time in comics history (so far as I can gather) some of the unpleasant truths about life were addressed in comic book form. War wasn't pretty, victory wasn't inevitable, not everyone was coming home. Interestingly, as an aside, it's also the only time that Goodman led the charge with a genre. His MO was to jump on every trend and saturate the market until the profits started to decline. Atlas war, specifically War Comics 1, was the first book of its kind and he created the genre as such.
