Changer
I just bought the 9.0 and found an earlier 7.5 version of it sold (image below) before it was presumbly CPR, no notes available on the 7.5. can you tell how without notes how this books has jumped so much in grade? theCapraAegagrus
Is that bottom-left corner a defect, or part of the artwork?
Funnybooks
back cover pics? The 7.5 appears under-graded. I had a nice copy of a book that graded 7.0 but presented like a 9.0 but for a small 1/2 - 3/4 inch almost imperceptible tear hidden well in the art. grendelbo
My initial guesses are it was under-graded and perhaps the covers had a lot of creases or finger-bends that were imperceptible in the original slab. I had a CGC 7.5 that looked terrific. I cracked it open and only then could I see the front cover showed heavy-handling. I pressed it and it's now likely VF/NM. Popular Post joeypost
It probably had the right defects. Not uncommon for a huge jump in grade like this to happen if a large non-color bend or crease is removed. Spyder!
Also, this all comes down to human judgement. Different graders and different points in time, that can contribute a lot, in addition to a press. Nice page quality bump too! Is it possible to press a hard ncb crease all the way out (to where any fiber damage can't be seen with the naked eye), or is the visible impact just lessened? I've never been clear on the limits of pressing ncb creases.
rexinnih
The biggest jump I've experienced from pressing was an 8.5 to a 9.6. I just appreciate it when it works out in my favor.

Jaylam
The 7.5 was graded on a Monday and the 9.0 was graded on a Thursday. Albert Thurgood

Oh hey... look at that... the pq got better too... once again, why I never pay a premium for 'white pages'. I have seen PQ change between CPR's as well. Some go from OW to OWW and sometimes OWW to White. The Lions Den and grendelbo
Paul © ® ⚽️💙™
7.5 to 9.0 is easy to explain. 7.5= Grader listening to Boomtown Rats on a Monday morning. 9.0=Grader listening to Macarena 4.30pm, Friday. grendelbo
