That and getting something lost in the mail is my #1 fear. I don’t have a very high comic book budget and when I do spring for something nice ($200-400 books) I’m on pins and needles until it’s in hand

Yes.

I feel you. I submitted 25 books. 24 of the 25 had an internal crack in the slab in the same spot. The one that didn't was cracked on the other side. Additionally, about 23 of them had a very prominent scuff all around the same spot on the slab. They are currently back for a reholdering. I'm frankly terrified what may come back will be worse. Nothing is getting QA'd over there.

I do the same.  It’s been at least 5 years since I’ve sent anything in for grading.  I either buy it slabbed or I buy raw & keep it that way.  TAT’s are worse than ever and just way too many “accidents” happening.

While there are more accidents happening (from what I am reading), there is also way more being sent in than ever before. So I wonder if the error percentage has increased or stayed the same.

Customer service 101. When you mess up you take care of that customer first. Your books should have been back to you fixed or compensated in weeks. Unless there are so many mess ups they are jammed up months just with those.

Customer Service 001. Eliminate the competition and you can eliminate your customer service.

They haven't eliminated competition

They just know incompetence when they see it

True.  But seems like we (I) hear about it a lot more than I used to.

I do too and that's how percentages work. We'll always hear more of the insatisfactions than the satisfaction. So more books, means more chance of accidents or mishandling it and we are sure to hear about it. It's like COVID deaths. Last winter, the amount of deaths was unfathomable, to the point where there were times when COVID was the number 1 cause of death for a given week. But it was always a 2% death rate, people just caught it a lot more then than before.

Although I have seen that issue of all books coming back with the same corner bend/damage more than I'd like and I had not seen that before.

There never was any competition. Could have been but the competition didn't try to compete. Unless charging people to put a comic in a mylar bag was their idea of trying to compete. Even so if you someone off bad enough they aren't coming back. They will stop slabbing books or go to the so called competition.

I completely regret sending in a submission. My main goal is to get them back undamaged and sometime this year. I don't know what would have to change for me to have any faith in CGC, but it will be a very long time before I would submit again, if ever.

yeah sadly i cannot imagine submitting anything again for a long time. too many horror stories the last year. why do you guys still submit books, knowing whats going on there now?

I can't answer your question, but on a no-doubt related note, I can tell you the CBCS TATs are getting longer and longer.

I submitted 36 books back in March and they came back 4 months later damaged all in the same place (if anyone really loves details just go look at my posts).

They agreed it was their fault and agreed to press, clean and regrade.  It was divided into 2 shipments.

The first shipment comes back and out of 16 books there were 8 comics they never even opened!    Verifired by Checking Their Grading date.  Still have the same damage.  After months they agreed to take those 8 back and fix them; I'm still waiting on those.

Another 11, just came back.  Out of 11 they only pressed and regraded 3 of them!  Of course, those 3 all came back 9.8.  Once again, 8 (different than the above 8)  of them come back unopened!  They still have the same damage!

Each time I just can't believe their incompetence and it just continues to get worse!

What the heck is going on there???!!!!!

Hate to say it…welcome to the club. :sorry:
