Lightning55
So a consensus is that the measurement is wrong in the diagram. Someone drew it, one or more people probably approved the drawing, someone published it. No one double-checked it, no one noticed it was wrong. Fits right into my new life rule: "No one can do anything right anymore." Ninja0215

So I put them horizontal and then flipped the case! They're all vertical inside now so I hope they don't sustain any damage. Not the way it was intended to be used, but the design was wrong from the start. Or someone taking an existing product and trying to "force fit" it to a new use. The way you describe storing should work out, even if a bit discombobulated. Ninja0215
shadroch
Somebody got a bunch of bags on sale, couldn't re-sell them to lawyers and repurposed them. I had a leather legal case like that that was my go to bag for conventions.

Really, this isn't long term but rather short term until something better surfaces. On a positive note, it really made setting up what's worth collecting and what isn't much easier to handle. Eventually most of the books in this case will find their way to capable hands here at the certified guaranty company👍

manetteska
Whatever you do for storage, please never use these types of "bags": I've seen a lot of dealers use them at shows and they're pretty terrible (to me). Very difficult to flip through boxes of comics with these, and the top is open, so either you have to double-bag the comic, or leave it open to the elements. I can't say if there has been any damage to any other comics storing them this way, or if anything will happen in the future, but this method has worked well for me so far. Same, except for longer than that. Just had an ASM 252 come back 9.6, after being stored upright in bag and board in a longbox for decades. I think all this talk of "what's the best way to store?" aside from climate control (temperature, humidity, light exposure) is much ado about nothing. Mercury Man
Edgar Church had this method where he stacked them in a closet, with no bags or boards. They kept pretty nice. WolverineX
badback83
A friend of mine dropped off a really nice gift to me the other day. These have become really popular with sports card collectors to bring their cards to shows. It holds probably 7 or 8 graded books. All of the foam has perforations so you can customize the storage area. Pretty cool. RickSp and WolverineX
