I need your expertise , All-True Crime 26 0

Hi

 

I recently purchased 2 copies of All-True Crime 26 from the same dealer. One was a Canadian Edition.  Looking at the cover , there is a portion blacked out and I dont know if this is "normal" for a Canadian Edition done at the publisher or if someone else just ran a marker over it.  It looks like something done at the printer, but I am not sure. I would appreciate your input.

It was probably done at the printer. Canadian editions are funny that way.

The easiest way to tell for sure is to check the inside front cover. If it was blacked out in ink, it would be bleeding through.

Well said! It does look like a clunky printer fix done while on press.

I agree with what's been said.  They might have been purposely covering the date cuz it didn't match distribution dates (like why pence copies don't have the date)

Copies on Heritage have it too - seems to be unique to that 'first' issue as it is the only one with a date on the cover as far as I can see.

Interesting. I go with an overprint bar. To straight on sides and a bit ragged at bottom like a printer would have done on a second run through the press. Is it me or does the “CAN ED” look hand lettered?

I agree. It moves about too much from copy to copy.

It does - as does the now obscured date.
