Pressing Sketches/Remarks?
1 1

Hello,

Apologies if this has already been answered, found some threads which hint at an answer to this question but just for 100% clarity I wanted to outright ask:

Would pressing damage a sketch/remark? I know pressing usually doesn't affect signatures, and I don't see why that wouldn't extend to remarks (Aside from maybe the heavier pooling of ink?), but again wanted to be 100% sure.

For reference, something like this (not my comic, just a picture I found on google)

Marauders #3 Jeehyung Lee Kitty Pryde Virgin Variant ...

All depends on the paint/ink used. Typically pressing would not hurt a sketch/signature, but the way the books are prepped could cause serious damage to artwork introduced after the book was printed.

Certain artists (like Todd MacFarlane) used to sign and remark with paint pens that would always stay tacky. I don't see those issues of late as most artists stopped using those types of pens.

CCS does all their SS pressing after the signing/remarque/sketch

I would find it difficult to believe that would be their practice if it was prone to more damage

As stated above, CGC does pressing after the signature/sketch/remarques are finished. I always add pressing to sig series submissions and have greatly benefited.

Hey, just wanted to ask, are you guys sure that pressing happens after the signature/sketching? My submissions for the mark bagley signing event were just received and logged into the tracking system and the first state they're in is "Received at CCS" and my credit card was just charged for the CCS fees. Does this mean my books have already been signed? I thought none of the books actually get signed during the submission period and that the creators and CGC do the signing a few weeks after the submission deadline.

pressing 100% happens post sig/sketch

if you have CCS pressing services on your order that is how they will show up ("received at CCS") once CGC gets your package

pretty sure your credit card was not charged, it is just a temporary hold to confirm the fees and should drop off until actual invoicing

it is a bit confusing but you are good

I don't think this is correct.

I sent several books to the now-cancelled Perez signing, and was only going to have two pressed.  The two that were going to be pressed are still "checked in" at CCS, and I did in fact get charged $40 for pressing charges on the two books - even though the signing has been cancelled and I haven't responded to CGC/CCS with how I want them to proceed with my books (I asked some questions about splitting the order nearly 2 weeks ago that have yet been answered).
