I had a couple of copies of Superman 1 over the years but oddly I always liked the #2 better. Maybe it's because I saw more Superman 2s at early conventions than the #1 so there's a stronger personal connection with me and the 2. However, there's no denying that Superman 1 has a lot of reprint material including the cover drawing which is from Action 10. Superman 1 is still Superman 1, but various articles I've read over the years have also inferred that perhaps it was intended as a "special" like the Skippy book, and it was huge sales figures that prompted the continuation. Superman #2 is labeled #2 on the cover and in the indicia whereas Superman 1 has no such indicators. Granted, Superman 2 is reprint material as well but it's all newspaper strips which had to be assembled to make into comic book form. That is very unique and specific to just the #2. After the 2, you get the early Action reprints again so the 2 is a one of a kind and is the only other cover that retains that same art deco flavor of #1.

Not sure if they are a lot harder to find or not, but for sure books like Action 2, 'Tec 28, Bat 2, and Supes 2 are most certainly much more affordable than their preceeding more iconic historic issues.  :luhv:  :takeit:

yes, there are one or two here and there for sure .........

Most definitely as I still remember including Superman 14 with the classic patriotic shield cover as one of my Top 5 GA covers for a CBM survey back in the mid 90's.  Then again, what do I know since I was the only person to include 'Tec 31 or Punch 12 in my list of Top 5 GA covers at the time.  :whatthe:

Also can't argue against Superman 23 as that's an absolutely classic close up periscope shot of Superman.  :luhv:  :takeit:

Yeah, 23 is great Supes is so pizzed!

I know I am in the minority, but I much prefer the patriotic flag cover of 24 over 14.
