A CGC "deputy" is a CGC Authorized Witness... that's either a representative from CGC itself or a person who works for a retailer that has a contract with CGC central to obtain and witness signatures.

Retailers that do have this authorization from CGC must complete paperwork, screen witnesses, meet certain requirements, etc. and the Authorized Witnesses are usually restricted to witnessing at conventions where CGC itself is present to supervise.

In special circumstances the retailer can make a request to CGC whereupon they can have one of their Authorized Witnesses present at store signings and extra-curricular events and this requires some additional steps on the part of the retailer. Which, I believe, is the case in this particular Collector's Kingdom signing.

If a retailer does not have an agreement with CGC and wishes an Authorized Witness present then they need to arrange for one to be brought in.

Conventions do not obtain Authorized Witnesses. Retailers who have permission have their Authorized Witnesses supervised at conventions by CGC, or CGC staffers can act as Authorized Witnesses directly.

Hope that clears up some of the confusion.

Kevin

Thread cleaned up. Let's keep it clean. This dispute is NOT a topic for these boards. It's not the purpose of the Comic Events board.

Dang, I missed some good stuff? Christo_pull_hair.gif
