By the time it got to me me, the deals were long gone. But I was able to converse with collectors all over the country I wouldn’t be able to otherwise. I made a lot of connections and from time to time got chances at books before they hit the Buyer’s Guide. I was on the left coast too back then but I think the bigger value was in making connections and a lot of other stuff in and around comics you could buy from those ads. I bought a lot of music related stuff like picture discs and concert posters on the Buyers Guide. I think I actually bought my first Beatles Butcher Block cover on a ad or by talking to someone advertising there. Unusual things like the Eerie #1 ashcan would pop up or vintage toys like old Hot Wheels or Colorforms Outer Space Men. I think I got all 3 of my Marvel 1966 Aurora models there originally. It was fantastic getting a copy and scanning through all those ads large and small. I don’t think I own my copy of CBG #1 anymore but I do have a lot of them back to issue #2 which is one of my favorite covers in the run. Didn’t realize at the time how scarce some of them were. The RB Special 1 is a 1st print. Thought they were worth showing here. Anybody else love these as much as me? I kept all of my issues from the sixties but RB 15-19 seem to be missing. Any adressed to Monroe,MI in your pile? Wizard gets (fairly) trashed as a hype rag, but there was some great stuff mixed in with the cringey 90's dross. Palmer's Picks was a huge influence on my 12 and 13 year old self. It quickly expanded my interests beyond the bland Marvel/DC mainline and into self-published indie titles. I still reference some of his recommendations. BB-Gun
The very early Rocket's Blast had a low distribution number. Some others that had a low print run (20-25) were Super-Hero 1 and Countdown 1. Edited May 6, 2022 by BB-Gun Larryw7

Ameri
The original Sparkle City Comics came out with their own "investors newsletters." In 1979, they hyped the anti-communist comics like Blood Is the Harvest and The Devil Would Talk and they were getting wild prices for these. I wrote to the publisher and received 3 copies of the Red Iceberg. I traded one copy for a low grade Planet #2. This is how hot these were at one time. Ameri
Overstreet's Golden Age Quarterly replaced CBM, but retained Gary Carter as editor and all the CBM contributors. Then these stopped, and CBM resumed again with Gary. CBM had 121 issues in all I believe. BB-Gun, Larryw7, Primetime and 1 other
