Funny, I'm actually in 27th place behind the top spot lol. Well, top 3 definitely ain't happening, but it's been a fun ride. Until next year! Overall pretty happy with my grading.

@CGC Mike How are ties broken? It looks like there will be multiple people tying for 3rd and maybe even 2nd.

yes indeed. I can only hope I get more "serious" earlier on next time  

I'm wondering, but I hope, that everyone continues out the contest: 1) you never know and 2) to be able to participate in the next (without sitting it out)

Still it's all in fun, is the main thing

Nothing is etched in stone yet but, I believe we have 3 extra books we can for a tiebreaker round.  If that isn't enough, we will most likely use Shin's final rankings formula that was used in the Green Eggs contests.

1) Most Cumulative Bullseyes

2) Most Books off by 1 grade

3) Most Books off by 2 grades

4) First Book in order listed to get Bullseye

5) Second Book in order listed to get Bullseye

According to Mike's grade distribution table, only 107 players remain (down from 154 at sign-up, 134 in Round 1, and 113 in Round 2).  Another 100 or so withdrawals and I may have a shot!    In any event, here are the key measures of central tendency for Round 3 (Mean = the average grade; Median = the middle grade in a numerically rank-ordered list; Mode = the most common grade):

Board members were generally in line with CGC on the Round #3 books.  Here are a a few notable observations based on the data reported above:

• Book #11 (Crime SuspenStories #22):  The "easiest" book for the Board as a whole, with 75% of the contestants within one grade increment of CGC and a mean contestant grade essentially identical to that of CGC (2.4 vs 2.5).  .
• Book #12 (Howard The Duck #1):  Arguably the most controversial book to date.  Several players viewed the vertical marks along the top edge as handling defects rather than cover design elements and/or production blemishes common to all copies of this issue.  Is the color loss at top-left corner insignificant?  Is the red bleed-thru on Howard's sword, right temple, and right eye more extensive and visually distracting than on most other CGC 9.6 copies?  Is there a faint color-breaking bend at the bottom-right corner of the front cover?  Is the back cover soiling or black ink transfer not a disqualifying defect at the 9.6 level?    (Call me a neanderthal, but I think NM+ specimens should have snow white back covers.)  As a result of these various uncertainties, only 40% of the players were within one grade increment of CGC.    Which party actually whiffed -- was it the Board, or was it CGC? 
• Book #13 (Marvel Spotlight #5):  65% of the contestants were within one grade increment of CGC.  However, collectively, the players were one grade increment more lenient than CGC (4.5 vs 4.0).
• Book #14 (Showcase #19): Another tough book for the Board as a whole, with only 53% of the contestants within one grade increment of CGC.  Collectively, the players were a bit more than one grade increment more lenient than CGC (4.2 vs 3.5).  Players take note: CGC absolutely hates moisture stains! 
• Book #15 (Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1): 63% of the contestants were within one grade increment of CGC.  However, this time around, collectively, the players were about one grade increment tougher than CGC (5.0~5.2 vs 5.5).  Indeed, 50% of the contestants believe this book is either a 4.5 VG+ or 5.0 VG/FN (with simply too much front cover creasing and back cover soiling to be only a whisker away from FN).

My eyes are bad, I can't even see the chart when it's blown up. On the other hand, it's probably best for me not to know.

This round was my best (aside from Howard the Duck, as I called it 9.0)

I have only had 3 bullseyes, 5 under graded books and 7 overgraded books. This concerns me as I usually go the other way.....I need to focus more and go back to my old ways. 9.2 on that Batman Annual the one round? 8.5 on the Secret Wars foreign copy? What was I on? Looking back at both, I cannot believe that is what I typed but I did...
