Joshua33
A dedicated thread to the Ward covers you own. Let's only list what we have, and see if we can collectively get to all 200 plus covers from his body of work. It'll also be interesting to see who's holding what. So, please, no internet uploads of books we don't have, just pictures of the covers we own from the master!!! jimjum12, damonwad, Randall Dowling and 1 other

Popular Post Surfing Alien
Here's my post verbatim from when I posted this a few years ago: The 1st issue of Private Detective Stories was one of the first pulps I ever had many years ago. I sold my copy because I didn't have proper storage conditions for it and it was browning badly. Saw a chance to get a copy again so I took it. Great Ward Hatchet Murderer cover... pmpknface
Just subbed to this thread, LOVE what I've seen so far. Just decided to google HL and came across this, just in case if you want to know more about the man. https://www.pulpartists.com/Ward.html Here are a few highlights, and some of the books he worked on: Quote Hugh Joseph Ward was born March 8, 1909 in Philadelphia, PA. His parents were Mary and Charles A. Ward. His father worked for the city as a letter carrier. Hugh was the youngest of six children in an Irish Catholic family. Sensational pulp covers by H.J. Ward were soon appearing on Ace-High Western, Argosy, Double Detective, Easy Money, Prison Life Stories, Rangeland Love, Red Star Detective, and Red Star Mystery. He created many iconic pulp covers for Trojan Magazines, such as Bedtime Stories, Lone Ranger, Speed Adventure, Spicy Adventure, Spicy Detective, Spicy Western, Super Detective, Tattle Tales, and Private Detective. Hugh Joseph Ward died at age 35 in February 7, 1945.
