Occasionally I'll venture onto Reddit. Maybe once a week - that's all I can take. I'll look at the Comic Book Collecting forum. Any time a raw book is posted there's a chorus of comments saying slab it. You gotta CGC it. The WWW tells me 65% of Reddit users are between the ages of 18 and 29. This is the hobby for them. jokiing
OP lucky that some of the new grades were not lower when considering shipping, cracking slab, handling during grading and recently hired graders.

Maybe 9.6? I was waiting for someone to do it haha, because people have questioned the grade before. I always just feel like, you have to remember we're talking about a golden age book, not modern. There's going to be more room for error on something soo old with such delicate paper, and the book as a whole is pristine. I mean pristine or near pristine corners and edges, no indents or creases, bright/clean staples or any other foreseeable defects. We have to remember once again, it's a 9.8, not a 9.9 or a 10.0. So there is some room for error, and those two ticks are EXTREMELY small. I'm not sure how they come off in the photo, but in person you can barely notice them. So I think the question becomes, are we saying a 9.8 can't have spine ticks at all, and especially small ones? That's not a mentality I'll ever prescribe to, and I think it's unfair to assume that if a book were flawless, minus a couple ticks it is undeserving of a 9.8. The only other issue is the slight miswrap of course, but that's a production defect, so doesn't take away from the grade. Now I would definitely not call my book a strong 9.8, due to the misaligned wrap, but I absolutely feel it's a 9.8. So that's my feelings, detractors or those who simply disagree with the grade can make of it what you will lol.
