curious how this affects grade.

got a copy of FF annual 2.  books maybe a 2.5 .  cover is small split but attached. 2 story  pages are torn out but placed back in book  so all pages just 2 were ripped out and places back , loose but again no missing pages.

want to CGC and display with all my other CGCs i have on my comic wall in my man cave even though technically not something i would cgc but again its not to sell. its just for display. so dont kill me for wanting to cgc.

because of the 2 torn out but there pages would it get the.5 garde automaticly like missing pages gets?

thanks

im torn ( no pun) i thought 2.0 yiu can have torn out pages as long as they are still in book. not missing.

2.5 would probably be the maximum that I would consider, but again, I'm not sure what CGC's stance is.

@The Lions Den, care to weigh in?

A book with a detached cover, page, pages, wrap, or wraps will not automatically receive a grade of 0.5 PR.  Books with the aforementioned defects are eligible for either Universal (Blue Label) Grades or Qualified (Green Label) Grades, depending on their "otherwise" condition (the book's condition aside from the detachment defect).  As a general rule, only books with an "otherwise" condition of 4.0~4.5 and higher are eligible to receive Qualified Grades.  Here are the receipts :foryou: :

It's interesting that you can still receive a blue label for a book with detached pages that grades in the Fine range...

hm

Just spitballin' here, but CGC's "apparently lenient" treatment of the Betty & Veronica Annual #1 (100 pgs, CGC 4.5), World's Finest Comics #13 (84 pgs, CGC 5.0), NY World's Fair Comics #2 (100 pgs, CGC 5.5), and Katy Keene Annual #3 (100 pgs, CGC 6.0) may (may!) have something to do with the fact that these issues were all manufactured with individual leaves rather than wraps.  The book was held together with glue along the spine rather than staples (a technique known as "perfect binding").  As the glue dries out, individual leaves often come loose.  Indeed, I've seen many lightly-worn, glue-bound specimens that have degraded to the point where every single leaf is loose.  No staple holes, tears, or missing pieces; just a stack of loose leaves surrounded by a cover.

Are a few loose leaves in an 84-page or 100-page glue-bound comic really that much different from a cleanly detached centerfold on a 52 page or 36-page staple-bound comic?  hm  (shrug)

As I said, this is all just speculation.  It's also possible that the VG/FN to FN examples I shared in my first post are the work of a single, rogue grader, on a mission to destroy the credibility and reputation of CGC.   lol

Books are a valuable source of knowledge and enjoyment for many people. However, not everyone appreciates them as much as we do. If you have rare books with pages torn out, perhaps someone did not appreciate their value or simply does not like books. But this should not stop us in our respect for books. Recently found synthesis essays about pests, found https://edubirdie.com/examples/synthesis-essays/ for this. It became interesting to find out what drives them. If you encounter this problem, you can try restoring the books or find new copies to keep your collection valuable. Nobody should stop us from loving and appreciating books! Nobody!

I don't know who is the person who rips out the pages, it's terrible
