So....this isn't a reboot a la Batman Begins? Am I reading that right? These movies are supposed to fit into the same continuity as the Reeves films...?

If that's the case, I'm surprised at the decision. Seems to me like they'd want to market to a fresh new audience, like Batman did.

That's my understanding...looks like the Fortress of Solitude hasn't changed much from the earlier series... cloud9.gif

Someone asked Singer in SD if this film ignores the 3rd and 4th films from the original series. His response was something like "yes, and perhaps the 2nd as well."

The old theme is incorporated into the soundtrack, and Marlon Brando appears again as Jor-El(culled from old footage). My understanding is that it will have less of the goofy humor generated by Otis and Miss Tessmacher in the original series, and the story has a real emotional arc.

I think it's going to be pretty darn good. thumbsup2.gif

This is supposed to be Superman 3 in terms of continuity. The first two Superman films were pure classics so I don't mind them starting off from there.

Why do you say that? I was very interested, good or bad, in the development of Sin City, Batman Begins and The Fantastic Four, but this new Superman movie rates a negative on the "Interest Meter".

Get it? I am not saying this movie is going to be good or bad, only that I'm amazed I really don't care either way.

gay suit aside, I like the spin they are placing on this movie where it is about the hero living in a hero who doesn't want one, and how someone tries to fit in a world that he has forsaken. It sure as hecks beats the ancient "good vs bad" simplistic story themes upon which the character was based. In general, I've never been "moved" by a Supes story (I've read most of the late 70s and early 80s titles), and I appreciate the effort to make the hero more relevant to these modern times.

This is of course something Spider-man tackles rather well, both in its original form and the latest movies.
