A CGC 9.9 comic. 

This copy is STILL the single highest graded.

Not too many Hine signatures out there. I just checked eBay out of curiosity. Not a single sig. .

Ok, I'd like to offer up some observations on this one...

I believe Capullo did this, but it really doesn't look like him.  I think it's the coloring and not having someone like Miki inking it.  Did he color this as well?  I looked, and https://www.spawnworld.com/books/ongoing/ongoing173.htm didn't say anyone else had a hand in it, just Andy Troy (I'm not familiar with him) colored the book.  

I'm not into the white border on the left either.  I get why they may have tried it. Likely to try to appeal to the dealers that stack their books over each other on a shelf (mine does this) so they can be seen when the "standard" titles are covered.  But this one is different, where the image is behind the banner and it isn't just the white with the "bug" print.  I'm wondering if it was supposed to be moved over like the previous covers but it got shifted.  I know his sig is off the the right, and maybe that's why they went it with this way but like that couldn't be moved.  

There's also so much dead space for no real reason, I'm not a fan.  I'm ok with it where it makes sense but it doesn't work here.  I wonder if this was meant to look more like this (pardon my weak photoshopping skills):

I'm not saying this with absolute authority, but my guess is that Capullo provided the pencils for the cover. The art was scanned and "inks" were applied digitally by Haberlin, probably at the same time as the colors.

Classic! 

The first Gunslinger cover. Arguably the most popular form of the Hellspawn. I consider this a key issue.

Key issue?  That is an understatement  .  It's funny that CGC does not notate anything about him (ie 1st full appearance) except for the misspelling on the cover.  How was that missed by Image?

Just to be clear, the character's first appearance was a cameo in issue 119. That's not notated by CGC. 

But I agree! They should also start notating 174 as the first full appearance/first story/first cover....something!

This and 175 are two of my favorite books in my PC. I bought both raw earlier this year and sent them in to be graded which both got a 9.8. Besides She-Spawn, I think that Gunslinger is the most popular hell spawn. Now he is going to be getting a second series soon.

About as good as it gets on every level! 

This is a definite "will one day own again" book. 

I remember trying to track down a few of these artists for signatures. Like, who is Bing Casino?   

You just won't find 'em at your typical con.

After some stumbles, Brian Haberlin knocked it out of the park with this one! Definitely one of my favorites! I'll be compiling a top 10 or top 20 list soon. Maybe in celebration once we hit issue 200. 

I will definitely own this one again. It just speaks to me.

I remember seeing this cover in an Overstreet article. They were writing about the lower print runs during this stretch in Spawn, and this was the example they used. 

I will try to find it and post it later. In the meantime, here is the cover.

I couldn't find my Overstreet. Sorry! All our books are still in boxes. Our new library shelves have been delivered, so I should be unboxing soon. 

In the meantime, here is:

Broken record: I love this cover! 

I'd even say it might be in my personal top 5! Certainly the top 10. Certainly the best Haberlin did, along with 178. 

These are both "I will have agains."
