Administrator CGC Mike Posted January 31, 2023 Author Administrator Share Posted January 31, 2023 The results get a little blurry when you make it larger. If it's a problem for people, I will fix it later. I am waaay behind my work I need to do.
Popular Post zzutak
According to Mike's grade distribution table, only 107 players completed Round 1 (down from 114 at sign-up). Here are the key measures of central tendency for this round (Mean = the average grade; Median = the middle grade in a numerically rank-ordered list; Mode = the most common grade): Book CGC Grade Distribution Statistics # Grade Mean Median Mode 1 3.0 2.6 2.5 2.5 2 6.5 6.5 6.5 7.0 3 3.0 3.1 3.0 3.0 4 8.0 8.3 8.5 8.5 5 9.0 9.0 9.2 9.2 The Board scored 120 bulls-eyes in Round 1 (22% of all grades submitted, compared to an average of 20% in 2022 Grading Contests #1 thru 4). Here are a few other notable observations based on the data reported above: Book #01 (Batman #2): The most difficult book for the Board as a whole with only 19% of the contestants at the same grade as CGC and only 58% within one grade increment of CGC. Collectively, the Board was almost one grade increment more critical than CGC (2.6 vs 3.0). Book #02 (Mystery In Space #53): An easy book for the Board as a whole, with 22% of the contestants at the same grade as CGC and 66% within one grade increment of CGC. Collectively, the Board agreed with CGC (6.5 vs 6.5). Book #03 (Amazing Spider-Man #9): The easiest book for the Board as a whole, with 28% of the contestants at the same grade as CGC and 73% within one grade increment of CGC. Collectively, the Board essentially agreed with CGC (3.1 vs 3.0). Book #04 (Blackthorne 3-D #75): Another easy book for the Board as a whole, with 21% of the contestants at the same grade as CGC and 64% within one grade increment of CGC. Collectively, the Board was about one-half grade increment more lenient than CGC (8.3 vs 8.0). Book #05 (Transformers #1): Yet another easy book for the Board as a whole, with 21% of the contestants at the same grade as CGC and 67% within one grade increment of CGC. Collectively, the Board, once again, agreed with CGC (9.0 vs 9.0). A strong showing for the Board as a whole! I see 61 overgrades vs. 23 undergrades, which looks like the greatest disparity, with the exception of the Batman book, where there were 22 overgrades vs. 65 undergrades. But the "average" grade still comes out right at about 9.0 because the overgrades come in increments of .2, whereas the undergrades are in increments of .5. Well, I thought it was interesting.... flashlites, zzutak and Mars76 2

If it helps.... I put 7.5 on mystery in space as well. Under graded 1st book by a grade. Over graded the next two books by 2 grades, so a total of 5. Then bulls eyed the last two. frozentundraguy, grendelbo and F For Fake
F For Fake
Dang, no bullseyes for me this time. I was too stingy, went under on most of them. Only .5 away on three of them (Batman and ASM at 2.5, Blackthorne at 7.5), I was tight on the MIS, I went back and forth on 5.0 or 5.5, ended up being conservative with a 5.0, so I was way off on that one. I had Transformers at a 9.4. I actually waffled on that one for a bit, started at 9.0, then 9.2, then 9.4, then back again. Settled on 9.4 because I thought I'd try to be optimistic, shoulda known it would bite me! Anyway, it was a fun round! And you guys should buy from me, as I apparently undergrade in the low and mid grades! ADAMANTIUM and Point Five
