The Cut of the Whip Peter Rabe & Kill One Kill Two Robert H. Kelston Ace #D297        $20

Beautiful Harry Barton GGA cover art on "Cut",  looks like Lou Marchetti on "Kill"

Very Good/Very Good Plus. Solid spine, pages tight and supple. Minimal creasing, mostly to spine, a bit of spine wear and aging but overall very attractive.

For those who know (or don't know), these Ace Mystery doubles are infinitely tougher to find than the Science Fiction doubles, which seem to have been hoarded as Sci-Fi collectors were wont to do with every piece of paper they possessed lol!

I love the cover on this digest.  It might be my favorite cover by Rudy Nappi.

This one gets right to the heart of the Golden Age of Vintage Paperbacks...

The Neon Wilderness Nelson Algren Avon 222 1949         $30

Classic Raymond Johnson cover with the red-dressed Prostitute imposed over a seedy Chicago nightlife scene that was later re-used by Avon/Realistic on the famous comic book Intimate Confessions #1. Like most of the vintage paperbacks Avon re-used, the colors and image depth are so much more impressive on the paperback than on the comic book (and are priced so much more reasonably)

Very Good minus - hard to grade this one since it is worn by storage rather than reading wear - looks like a never read copy that was dropped and dinged/tore the cover a bit. Spine is square and tight. Pages tanning but still supple. No reader crease, very minor edge creasing and wear. Tear to the spine and lower cover through a few pages. Spotting on the back cover. Despite the mentioned flaws, the cover maintains high gloss and is still a nicely presenting copy of one of the great classic vintage paperback covers.

So, is it just me, or does it look like the title of the book was changed last minute on "Kill One Kill Two"?  I don't think I've ever seen a white spine on a D-Series double other than this one, and the logo on the front speaks for itself.
