Pics of a Surfer 4 that has color fading to the cover. (The spine is nice and square though, much better than I usually see.) The last photo is of it and my other copy so you can judge the extent of the fading. This book is the one the right.

First post, so welcome to the madness. I'll take your word on the fade. It's still hard to quantify in photos esp with some glare & shadows. It seems quite light. The official range for light fade is 8.0-9.4. A slightly worse fade is 5.5-7.5. I would say no worse than the latter range for fade. Given the other color-breaking defects, particularly around the edges & corners, I don't think the fade is what sets the grade. I would say 6.0±0.5. I can see the 6.5 just b/c of the nature of these types of square bound books being graded just a hair more leniently than other bindings. If it was  a regular comic, I'd have guessed 5.5/6.0.
