  1. Love the signature placement on the front. Great book - thanks for sharing.
  2. 6 for me this round, 22 for the contest. Still had fun despite the cloud hanging over this one.
  3. Nice! Safe to say it doesn't hurt the grade then.
  4. Here’s one of mine (my childhood copies) FWIW:
  5. That line on the cover of the DD is now the 5th copy of that book i've seen with the same mark. (I own two) I think it's a manufacturing error, because it's just weird for the same thing to exist on multiple copies. That said, I'd revise my grade from 6.5 to 7.0 after looking at it again.
  6. I also got the Thrilling comics #38 - 2.5 Patches #1 - 3.5 Amazing Spider-Man #50 - 4.5 Daredevil #168 - 6.5 Crime SuspenStories #22 Reprint - 9.4
  7. @Get Marwood & I Appreciate you chasing down the answers.
  8. Speaking as a corporate America veteran, I suspect he lost his job because they’re cutting costs due to declining revenue and his role is seen as a “nice to have” and not mission critical to generating revenue. They wouldn’t be the first company to expand during an era of plenty due to external forces (Covid, in their case) only to be forced to make some hard choices once that environment ends. Really sucks for Mike though, losing ones job through no fault of your own due to circumstances you have no control over is a bitter pill to swallow. He’ll be missed for sure and I hope he lands somewhere soon.
  9. Recent pickup. Opinions are appreciated.
  10. I'm also in the 4.0/4.5 range. Spine is just too rough for me to go higher.
  11. Just for funzies, I recalculated the leaderboard using a different standard. Instead of using the actual CGC grade as the correct answer, I used the "wisdom of crowds" answer, or the answer most selected by all the contest participants. For example, the correct answer for Exciting Comics #6 is no longer 2.5, but 2.0 since 38 participants chose 2.0, more than any other choice. So here's the "wisdom of crowds" leaderboard (sorry @scburdet , and "congrats" to @Morganmi) Score (wisdom of crowds) SCORE (actual) GRADER 6 15 Morganmi 7 14 flashlites 8 15 TheGeneral 9 14 universal soldier 9 16 GeeksAreMyPeeps 9 16 Get Marwood & I 9 18 RustyStaples 9 18 Tom789 10 13 JohnH19 10 15 zzutak 10 17 ChrispyC66 10 17 WilliamLunt 11 12 AJD 11 12 Hudson 11 14 spideyfan76 11 16 jcjames 11 16 skypinkblu 11 20 ArcherC 11 20 pastandpresentcomics 12 13 Deputy Dan 12 13 Point Five 12 15 Panda2 12 17 Batman Fett 12 19 jbpez 12 23 PeterPark 13 16 Bob7891 13 16 Motor City Rob 13 18 brumil190 13 18 Vince G 13 20 LRComics 14 13 JollyComics 14 15 comicginger1789 14 15 musicmeta 14 17 batcollector 14 21 jayhawker 14 21 spidermanbeyond 15 8 scburdet 15 14 Axelrod 15 14 Old Fashion PB and J 15 16 AbsoluteCarnage 15 16 GawkHawk 15 16 Lninefingers 15 20 Cerebus3000 15 20 CJ Design 15 20 paqart 15 20 thehumantorch 15 24 comicstock 15 24 TTG 16 13 JWKyle 16 13 Stefan_W 16 13 Superman2006 16 15 HighStakesComics 16 15 Warlord 16 15 grendelbo 16 17 KryptoMayor 16 17 sledgehammer 16 19 1Cool 16 19 Pitboss 16 23 LadyDeath 16 23 TheApprentice 16 25 marvelcollector 16 25 mikenyc 17 12 Mr. Zipper 17 18 Dormian 17 18 timfinz 17 20 Jesse-Lee 17 22 apocalypse76 17 22 makeminemarvel 17 22 Withering Wind 17 26 Cman429 18 19 aszumilo 18 19 mysterymachine 18 19 NY Roadkill 18 19 Patrick Horn 18 21 EastEnd1 18 21 vheflin 18 25 Crose87420 18 25 KPR Comics 19 22 Krismusic 19 22 trmoore54 20 19 jas1vans 20 21 Doctor Dositheus 20 25 ekaylor 20 29 Supa-Bad-Mofo 21 16 1337pino 21 16 Grendel72 21 18 boron 21 22 Darwination 21 24 frozentundraguy 21 26 Ron C. 21 28 aj_curated 21 28 Yorick 22 21 Cocomonkey 22 25 genrlzod 22 25 sagii 22 27 pmpknface 23 26 Wipple 23 28 g-man 24 23 John R 24 25 JustJimN 24 27 youfoundjake 24 29 jlouque 24 31 topofthetotem 25 20 BlackOut21 26 31 eeb03 27 22 southern cross 27 30 cgcsketcherz 27 30 SpideyFein 27 34 Mavrick76 28 25 Cushing Fan 28 25 Jackhartmann 28 31 Sandflea 29 34 Professor K 30 31 thingsofstuff 30 31 topcat54 30 35 ADAMANTIUM 31 38 AnthonyTheAbyss 48 47 Cat
  12. Grades in. REALLY looking forward to discussing Thrilling 38 and DD168 once the round closes.
  13. Good round for me: 3 bulls, and 2 points total missed low on yanks and showcase. don’t know about everyone else, but I spent a LOT of time going back and forth on yanks. Feel lucky that I got as close as I did.
  14. These contests are a delight, and with all things like this there's always a ton of work that goes on behind the scenes. And unfortunately, it's often a thankless job - people are silent when things go right, and react poorly and with great vitriol when there are hiccups. So, thanks Marwood, for reminding all of us to take the time to show a little appreciation. And Mike (and all the people behind the scenes), thanks so much. Not only are these things fun, but they foster a sense of community on the boards and I always learn a lot.
  15. Grades in. Two of them I spent WAY too much time going back and forth on.
  16. I bullseyed Spidey and marvel super heroes, but missed on Ghost badly. It's beat to hell and has a detached cover - 2.5 feels too high for me.
  17. Matt - you were right, it was super busy. But.. the team was great and I had a great experience. One follow up question: How long does it typically take for the submission to show up in my profile's "my submission" section? gave my book to the CGC team on the 18th, but I'm still not seeing it. Is that normal? Thanks again!
  18. After the absolute beating I took on showcase 20 in the first round, I went ahead and submitted early this time.
  19. Sometimes I feel like have a really good handle on what the grades should be. This was not one of those times. But they're in.
  20. Really appreciate the response. 1st time I'm doing this (I've collected for decades, but have never gotten a book signed) and wanted to make sure my ducks are in a row. Cheers
  21. I have a book, currently in a slab, that I would like to get signed at NYCC. Question: Do I need to crack it out of the slab before I arrive, or will there be facilitators/witnesses in attendance who will be able to crack the slab for me? (My preference would be to no crack until I have to - I'd like the book to be protected as I travel to NYC, and in the event the creator doesn't show I'd rather not have it cracked) thanks!
