  1. I don't think the grade is going up with a reattached cover and it wouldn't be cheap to do, so unless you're allergic to the slab I wouldn't. Edit: the auto censored thing is funny. I guess I should have said "non-CGC"
  2. And if everyone submits now, we can all get confirmation of my humiliating defeat a day early!
  3. Book could benefit from a press, and issues are primarily in the lower left corner - otherwise the colors are nice and bright and ‘feels new’ for lack of a better way of describing. thanks for looking!
  4. I'm right there with you. And on the other side of the coin, you see books with barely visible stains that get hammered mercilessly. It just seems that there's a disconnect between how these books would be received "in the wild" versus the grade treatment they receive.
  5. I see this as a major problem, because some graders clearly don’t grade by eye appeal. I don’t want to minimize the difficulty of the job, but consistent standards are paramount IMO. If some graders are going to hammer a barely visible stain and others will downplay the impact because it doesn’t hurt eye appeal I’m not sure where that leaves us as consumers….
  6. Since every thing has been so high grade so far this contest, I was kind of expecting 5 dishrag condition books to throw us a curveball for the final round.
  7. I hear you. Its why I’d love to win one of the contests - I have a couple books where I differ in my opinion from the consensus but it’s too low value of a book to justify the grading costs. (But I’d really love to know)
  8. 4 points, 1 bull for me I had both the flash and SW8 at a 7.5. Both were a struggle because they present really well and I felt like they were going to grade high….. but have flaws (chip out and rust) that disqualify them from VF for me. I tried to minimize the damage by going as high as I could without crossing that line. In the end, I will absolutely take the 4.
  9. Let me know and I'll co-sign the letter. I think between the pull and the staple rust, this shouldn't exceed a 6. But I feel like we've seen some crazy grades come back recently, so who knows?
  10. Grades in. It's much less a process of "I am submitting with conviction what I think the grade is" and much more "I know I'm going to be wrong, and I think this guess limits the damage"
  11. If the back cleans up, I think this gets to the 4.5/5.0 range
  12. 6.5 is too high for me, I think 5.0/5.5 range
  13. I'll hop on the 5.5/6.0 train. Don't think it can push higher than that though
  14. Looks like a contender to me, but I'm going to guess just below at 9.4/9.6.
  15. I got absolutely crushed by that book, but I like your standard for commenting and wouldn't change the way you do it.
  16. Resist the urge! Stains are a death sentence: https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/520963-pgm-iron-man-55-worth-an-appeal/
  17. I was sure that was a stain on the back of the power girl book and treated it accordingly. 2 points otherwise, but 5 (yes, five) on that one kill me
