Watched Dredd (2012) recently, so - coupled with taking a break from Marvelman and seeing a few 2000 AD's sold across the North Atlantic - I thought I'd create a thread here. I have a little over 200 of these currently ~

Does anybody else here collect 2000 AD?

I’ll start off with with Progs 30-45 and a few others :x

  • 1st appearance of Judge Minty.
  • The Long Walk is shown for the first time.
  • Chief Judge Griffin appearance.

  • #10; 1st appearance of Walter the Wobot and Call-Me-Kenneth.

2000 AD Progs 535, and 536:

  • #535; 1st appearance of Maximan and Masterman.
  • #536; 1st appearance of Zenith (Robert McDowell).

I've got all of Zenith Phase I and Phase IV, all of the interludes or other side stories, and a handful of Phase III.  Phase I was all in the wild finds, but I put some effort into finding the stories that weren't in the Titan collections back when it was unclear if Phase IV and the other odd bits would ever be collected or not.

Sorry, I realized too late people might think I was claiming preview images don’t “count.” I meant there’s actually earlier…

Interestingly, Dredd’s appearance in Prog 1 is unique because preview or not, it’s in the same magazine. We don’t see this with the Turtles first appearance in Gobbledygook 1. Even further from the “connection” are the ads for a character that appear in another book or preview publication like Marvel Age, FOOM (New X-Men Team), or Previews (Spawn). Dredd’s appearance in Prog 1 is special because it’s 2000 A.D. and he’s the essence of that comic magazine. Dredd was already created when Prog 1 exclusively for 2000 A.D. Tharg made sure readers and the world knew that in Prog 1. 

Prog 1 is the biggest “undiscovered” Bronze Age book because of this.
