Probably around 53 years ago, I began my love affair with comics. I'm pretty sure I posted at one point about being in the hospital for some surgery and meeting a slightly older patient who lost half his leg in an accident. I was 5 at the time and I can remember him sitting in his bed with a bunch of comics and I was fascinated. Shortly after that I would get my parents to buy me books, usually Casper, Archie, Sad Sack etc... When I was about 8 I finally convinced them to allow me to buy super hero books. My fixation with Spider-man began shortly after that.

I'm pretty sure that my first issue of ASM was #146 and I would continue to buy regularly until 1980 when I stopped collecting during high school. I was in and out of the hobby throughout the 80's until the mid 90's. Since that point, I've been working hard to have a complete run of ASM. I was lucky enough to have found this place which gave me a great venue to purchase some books at great prices, multiple LCS locations, cons, auctions etc...

This past week-end I have completed the run of ASM 1 to today (currently @ #920) including all annuals, king size, giant size etc...

I've also completed full runs of all major Spider-man titles (including annuals) with a few minor exceptions. I've excluded mini-series but do have a decent amount of them:

Having the dedication to focus and stay with it is awesome @universal soldier it seems daunting from here to start such, but that is what it would take to get it done :)

Quite an accomplishment! My suggestion is to pause and curate your collection. Do you like the Ditko and Romita runs the best, for example? What do you see yourself keeping, long term? Is investment value important to you? What other stuff did you read in the silver age? Ever consider dipping a toe into golden age? EC reprints are cheap, if you want to get an idea. Collecting Warren’s magazines could be fun. Let us know what you pursue next.

Golden age is a slippery slope and a death knell to my wallet. I do need to upgrade some of the ASM issues and will do so over time. 

What's next? Sell my dupes, continue on the other silver and bronze runs in varuious states of progress. For new, likely pre-hero Marvel and then pre code horror. When retirement comes, I'll sell them all off so consolidation is nearing in the coming years.

Anyway, congratulations! ASM is one of the two Marvel titles I collect that I have not completed a run of - I need #1,3,9, and 14.
