It's done, so now what? ASM run completed.

An amazing achievement. Something I’d love to do myself. I’m currently doing asm 1-375 and I’ve 280 issues ticked off ( yep it’s the single issues I’m missing )

I’ll keep chipping away but I can only dream of your achievement.
once I think I’ve took it as far as I can I’m going to collect FF Lee / Kirby run and Silver Surfer 1968 as I have issue 1 so rest doable.
good luck with your choice

I completed my ASM run a year or so ago, excluding AF 15. I also have full runs of MTU, PPSS, WoS, Spider-Man, etc. I wasn't sure what to do next either. I finally decided to collect the 60's and 70's Spidey appearances in other titles. (I think there's somewhere online that has all his appearances in chronological order congruent with his title). I also am in the process of getting 1 - 100 graded by CGC. I'm about 75% done there. I'll also be looking to upgrade and then selling off the under copies as I go. So I'll theoretically always be collecting Spider-Man. Which brings me happiness and joy. As ASM is the only title I have any passion for anymore.

I'm in the process of selling other runs to help further these goals.

For example : I used to love Batman and the X-Men as well. I finally gave up collecting both Batman and Detective titles because of how the modern books were written where I didn't recognize who Batman was any longer. So much so that I began to dislike Batman. I sold off all my GA Batman and Detectives through a well known auction site a year and a half ago. I am now beginning the process with my SA books. I had/have full runs of both Batman and Detective incl. annuals from the start of the SA. Batman 122 to whatever was present a year ago, and Detective 238 to whatever was present a year ago. I do have all the Omnibus' in case I ever want to read his GA adventures.

I had/have the full run of X-Men GS 1 to present and was missing 7 issues to finish 1 - 66. Same thing with X-Men, none of them resemble what I once adored and now are just characters that I pretty much despise. Letting these books go is made easier because of my antipathy for modern books.

How about Ultimate Spider-Man? It's a great run to read

I forgot to add them and just did. I have all of those too. Except ultimate fallout... :tonofbricks:

Mmm... what about the 8 Spider-Man issues of Marvel Treasury Edition? Then there's the Grab-Bag and team-Up issues, too.

I do have a few of those. It was a great way to read reprinted stories when I was younger.

Great stuff and a great idea to about all the early appearances. I recently completed a side quest of all Him/Adam/Warlock silver and bronze appearances. I can see myself doing something similar again.

I've posted about this before but am facinated how the stat graph in the CLZ app captures my collecting habits over the years. The highs and lows can all be tied to life events and times away from the hobby. I'm sure my next goals will be focused on the late 50's through the 60's. Work to do on the first couple years in the 70's too. (shrug)

Wow.  You are an inspiration!  I'm just starting out to complete my ASM run through 1978 which is when I stopped collecting, but now you're making me reconsider.

Thanks for sharing the story, and I hope you'll keep us posted on your next endeavor should you decide on one.

I applaud the dedication and focus. I don't think I can keep myself on a focused run longer than 6 months to a year before I want a different shiny marble to collect and I sell off what I've cobbled together to fund the new thing. Super cool achievement!

Congrats!! The ASM is impressive enough, but all the other titles as well !!

I also have the full ASM run up until current, but I also have a couple AF15's.....have all annuals and Giant-Sized as well, and I have all cross-overs in the silver age....also have 1-100 of FF

It's fun to go thru them from time-to-time

So now what? you ask. If you want a character with a massive run that should increase in value then Batman seems the obvious choice. If you want something difficult to track down and completely worthless then Charlton's Battlefield Action. Or stick with the "insect" theme? Blue Beetle, The Fly, Ant Man? The Astonishing Moth? Getting a full run of Big Jolt comics might be feasible as there was only ever one issue published 9_9
