Speak No Evil by Mignon G. Eberhart    Early Mapback.    Dell #25    1944    $20

Great Gerald Gregg airbrushed Jade Monkeys cover. An Art Deco classic from the early Dell period. There's something magical about early Dells that you just have to hold them to appreciate (it just might be the Eye in the Keyhole colophon!)

Near Fine/Fine. Very nice for an early Dell.  Great color. Solid binding has slight twist, pages tight and supple. Very little spine or edgewear and only miniscule creases. A couple of indents to the covers.

Bar The Doors Selected by Alfred Hitchcock     Mapback!     Dell #143    1946    $40

Classic Gerald Gregg Horror cover. An astonishingly fresh and nice copy of one of the best Dell Hitchcock Horror books. From the High Grade collection I bought many books out of last year.

Very Fine Minus. A killer copy with only a couple of very light lamination creases. Looks fresh and new. Bold colors and super glossy lamination. Solid square binding, pages tight and supple. Lamination is completely intact with only the tiniest flaws.  A superior copy of an all time classic vintage paperback.

Bound Girl by Everett and Olga Webber   Popular Library 303      December 1950     $10

Good Girl attacking with a pitchfork cover by pulp great Sam Cherry from the Golden Age of Popular Library

Fine. Fine Plus front cover, back has a ding on the left corner. A cool piece.

Cop by Jack Karney    Pocket Books 898     1st Print       September 1952     $20

Classy Nylons Good Girl in the mirror cover art by gritty realist Stanley Zuckerberg.

A killer copy of a late number Pocket Book.  Very Fine Minus.  Super sharp and glossy with amazing colors for a 70 year old pb. Spine is square as a block, pages tight, nice page quality. A touch of wear along front spine edge and back cover and one or two surface marks on back. An amazing vintage paperback.

Troubled Star by George O. Smith    Beacon Books #256  "A Galaxy Prize Selection"    1st PB Edition      $30

Gorgeous GGA cover art by Ed Emshwiller.

One of Galaxy Science Fiction Magazine's short lived attempts at slapping great GGA art on Beacon Books sleaze fiction line covers. I'm sure Beacon's readers were surprised to find Sci-Fi inside rather than sleaze lol. Probably why they only put a couple of them out like this. Shows Emsh could paint nice wimmen though :)

Fine Plus/Very Fine Minus. Solid spine has very slight wear, pages tight, covers smooth. Only some minor creasing at the middle spine that you can barely see in photos keep it from the top grade. A nice higher grade copy of a classic.

Kiss The Night Away by C. G. Lumbard. Popular Library 640    February 1955       $12

Nice nipple GGA cover by Raymond Johnson from the period at Popular when they had 2nd paintings done for the back cover. This 2nd is a great clinch!

Fine/Fine Plus. Square and solid, pages tight and off white. Spine has bindery chips at both endds and has a few light creases on the covers. An attractive copy.

Since I kind of transitioned into some Dell Sci Fi, I think I'll keep the Sci Fi going for a bit more

Line to Tomorrow by Lewis Padgett (Henry Kuttner & C.L. Moore)  Bantam 1251  1954   1st PB Collection   $15

A great collection, including "A Gnome There Was" by the Weird Tales & Astounding authors with a wild Mitchell Hooks cover

Fine/Fine Plus. Square spine, pages tight, bright colors, nice cover gloss. Light reader crease and edge wear. A very nice copy.

Batman The Best of the Original Batman      Signet D2939    First Printing March 1966       $15

First Batman paperback. Reprints the origin and other early classics.

Fine overall. Square and tight with great color. Minimal wear but has a crease that breaks color at top right, a finger bend on back and wear at the edges. Still a much better than usual copy.

All That Love Allows by Paul Darcy Boles. Popular Library 691    September 1955       $12

A dreamy GGA cover confection by pulp master Rafael DeSoto on this Pop. Another one with a great 2nd painting done for the back cover.

Fine. Square and solid, pages tight and the book looks unread or lightly read, but downgraded for edgewear and some light cover fading and soiling, most visible in the whites.
