PulpFest is scheduled for August 3-6, 2023, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh-Cranberry. The hotel is located at 910 Sheraton Drive, Mars, PA.

Focused on pulp magazines and popular fiction from the early 20th century, the convention will host 60-70 dealers selling pulp and digest magazines, first edition hardcovers, vintage paperbacks, fanzines, series books, adventure magazines, book and magazine cover art, and more.

This year, PulpFest will celebrate the 100th anniversaries of Weird Tales and Sport Story Magazine, the 90th anniversaries of Doc Savage and The Spider, and Robert E. Howard’s Conan. They’ll also host the FarmerCon XVIII convention that gathers fans of sci-fi writer Philip José Farmer and ERBFest 2023. The latter will celebrate the 100th anniversaries of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. and his Moon Trilogy, as well as the 150th anniversary of artist J. Allen St. John.

There are multiple ticket options, which start at $25 per day.

The dealer’s room will be open from 9:30 AM to 4:45 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 9 AM to 1:30 PM on Sunday. Additional events will be held after the dealer’s room closes.

Additional details on the convention, can be found at pulpfest.com.

Any more pics or show reports?

Alas, I was just plain too busy to take any. A fine problem to have, lol

HOWEVER.

There's another problem. There was a strain of Covid going round the show, and I and several others have tested positive.

If you attended, get tested.

"Masked Rider" pulps came out in 1934, and in that year, there were four issues, all with great covers.
He is actually marvel comics earliest superhero, as this pre-dates his appearance in Marvel Comics #1 (1939) by five years, which I'm sure every pulp collector but me was aware of ....LOL!
I was able to pick up the entire first year of four issues from the "Strasser" collection, thanks to 2 friends!

No doubt the Masked Rider (1934) was a swiped/carried over influence on Goodman’s published Masked Raider in Marvel Comics 1 (1939). The Ranger Publications was one of the earliest extensions of Goodman’s Red Circle pulp regime. Those Masked Riders appear to be incredibly scarce.
