Does 0.5 Automatically Mean Things are Missing, and is that a new grading scale? Should I have this regraded due to the "Complete Label?"

I mean obviously it isn't going to grade a 2.5 or anything like that, but should it at least be bumped up from specifically "0.5?"

Due to being "complete?"

and lol anyway I can get that in writing? lol

Hello,

Great question! You can learn more about this grade and others using our CGC Grading Guide HERE. Three scenarios can cause this grade; copies that exhibit an accumulation of extensive defects, copies that are missing a significant portion of the cover or interior, or both. Representing the bottom of the grading scale, there is almost no limit to the severity of any given defect in 0.5. As such, this grade can encompass a broader range of eye appeal.

Besides missing pieces or parts, no one defect can lower a comic book down to 0.5 by itself. Staining comes close, but in 0.5 it has usually led to other defects like heavy color loss, rusty staple disintegration, or brittleness that together have a cumulative effect. Most often a complete 0.5 suffers from a myriad of defects that have marred the cover image and compromised the structural integrity, requiring gentle handling. Regarding missing parts from the cover, 1/3 or more of the front or back cover can be missing, often the top 1/3 of the front cover (called the masthead), which was ripped off and returned for credit on unsold newsstand copies back in the day. The full front or back cover is allowed missing in 0.5, but if both are gone the comic is considered coverless and will receive a NG (No Grade instead).

All that said, if you would like this book to be reviewed for its current grade, this would need to be returned for a regrade through the paid service. We will not be able to make any guarantees of a possible grade without this in-house to be reviewed. Thanks for checking! .
