Hello everyone!

I'm pleased to announce the release of a new major version of ComicArtTracker!

Over the past 8 years, CAT has grown far above my expectations to serve a community of over 16,500 members worldwide, now indexing 370+ sources and having sent over 1 million email notifications in the last 12 months. Sustaining, maintaining and continuously improving CAT is a pleasure, but it also requires significant time and resources. That's why I'm finally introducing premium accounts with this new version, which will allow me to release long-time requested features while helping cover the associated extra-costs of servers and third-party services.

ComicArtTracker v4 introduces several new features and improvements, including:

- Improved performance and ergonomy: Enjoy smoother navigation and faster response times for a more seamless browsing experience, with a focus on mobile navigation.
- Premium accounts: Introducing premium membership to support the additional costs due to the premium-exclusive features.
- Instant alerts: Receive an email notification as soon as new art is listed matching your keywords, but also when tracked art has a price decrease. (premium)
- Discarded items: The feature was deactivated due to performance issues, now it's back for premium accounts! (premium)
- Automatic discard of eBay relistings: Get rid of these relistings you're not interested in and focus on new and unique listings. (premium)
- Revamped artists/characters/series pages: Discover their new design, including new statistics! (new pages will take a few days to roll out)

Details about premium accounts can be found here (click on "compare plans"). They will be accessible once the new version is fully rolled out. Free accounts will continue to enjoy access to the features you've come to love, maintaining the essence of my commitment to the comic art collectors community. As usual, feel free to contact me if you have a question, an idea, or if you find a bug in this new version.

Thank you once again for your continued support!

Is there a way to filter out all the porno images, and crappy "commission" type drawings?

You can use these in your settings to filter out ebay listings with low bids, and an exclusion list to filter out by terms. Some combination of these should let you filter out NSFW images. As for "crappy commissions" I think thats too personalized, might just have to live with it unless most of what you find crappy share a same keyword or are all low bid ebay auctions

As @JC25427N answered (hey you have a really funky dark mode, first time I see CAT with these colors :-D), you can use the exclusion list to blacklist some keywords, but as I wrote in the user options it has to be used with caution as it could also filter out some art you're interested in. For instance, let's say that you excluded the word "print"... if some art has a description such as "this is not a print", or "original art for a print", it will be excluded as well. From my personal point of view, I prefer to retrieve too many items and filter them visually than to risk letting one slip through.

Maybe in a later version I'll be able to use AI to filter items, but whatever the solution there is always a chance to filter out something that should not be filtered out...

If we could filter out certain names - that would be good. There's a couple artists that fall squarely into that category you point out above.

Maybe filter certain sellers ??

You had been able to do that with the current one, although, one reappeared when I searched by character name today. Maybe just filter out anyone who writes “make offer”?

You should be able to do that for eBay - as I add the seller name to the description. And if this name is not a common name, you should avoid the risk of missing some art.

When will Premium be available, Nico?

I would like to first fix the few bugs found (especially with Safari), and test the payment process with a few users, before rolling it out for everyone. Early May being always a busy period in France, with a lot of days off, it will probably be around mid-May.

I seem to be getting a lot of duplicates in the scans, even with the same price tag in the same market. Didn’t they used to be removed, more or less.

Could you be more specific? By PM if you want.

This isn't a complaint because I love using the site but I think the duplicate issue is when the site pulls in US ebay, ebay UK, etc.

It also happens to me when a seller lists items in multiple places, i.e. Anthony's when they list on ebay and on their site. Not sure what you would even do there

If @Rick2you2 is talking about what you're referring to, that's right that I can't do anything. I can identify relistings, because eBay gives me the information, but as far as I know these "duplicates" are just different items.

I understand that when there are different sources, but if it from the same US version of eBay? Or, if the seller lists it twice there, then the duplicate is going to appear? Maybe the problem is there are too many relistings of the same piece these days—and much of it is junk. Nevertheless, this site of yours is terrific. I would rather see too much than too little.

Even in this case you can have it listed twice on CAT, as I consider the Buy-It-Now option and the auction option as two different sources (with two different prices). So yes, when Anthony's listings are updated, you can have the same piece listed 8 or 10 times on CAT.

Some of the problems I have been having seem to be Apple (or IPad) specific. This morning, I could not open the new comic art search and set it for 24 hours. In fact, it barely opened at all. But, when I went to my Windows desktop, it was not an issue.

Safari is a . There, it's said! :nyah:

Chrome and Firefox display pages with 5,000 or 10,000 elements without any problem, but Safari starts to struggle as soon as we exceed 500 - 1000. I'm trying to find a solution for Safari users, but it will probably require imposing limits on the size of lists.

I saw a similar issue with chrome on iPad. There is significant lag - it took about a minute to load - and there are some display/caching when the search list scrolls down it disappears. The previous version was flawless. 👍
