Popular Post AJD
Hmm, I only have a couple of hundred of them, but I seem to recall that EC comics had words as well as pictures. Point Five, Darwination, PopKulture and 7 others 4 1
auboy77
Exactly! EC’s had so much dialogue , it was like reading a real book sometimes. The morality tales influenced so many , (ie Twilight Zone ). Seems that this new one is doing what a lot of them are doing now and making it mainly visual. The guys doing the new Creepy & Eerie , i think, have the right approach for us long time fans. This looks like it’s for the Walking Dead type fans Edited May 31 by auboy77 SpineTic and Mmehdy
DougC
The Peter Krause art looks a lot like the art from the ghost band kickstarter from some years ago (I double checked and he wasn't listed in credits). I don't hate the art and I wasn't expecting them to try and mirror mid-50s style, but my expectations are low. As for "no words" these are preview pages, I am going to greatly assume like many preview pages the text has not been added purposefully. Regardless it is two singular issues and they are not making 100 alternate covers to boost total print numbers so I will probably pick up at least the first issue. mysterymachine
These would be good cover buys, but I can't say the inside art does much for me. Tec-Tac-Toe, SpineTic and Mmehdy
Popular Post Ken Aldred
Just looks like a typical Oni or Image comic from the artwork. At least Alien Worlds and Twisted Tales, back in the 80s, had artwork with some degree of similarity and tone to the original books. Popular Post Robot Man
Wow, what a disappointment. But exactly as I expected. A lot of computer generated hacking panels with no story or dialogue. This is exactly why I put Walking Dead back on the rack and walked away. The EC logo should have never been put on it. An obvious money grab by Gaines’ heirs. Thanks for posting this. You will be saving this LONG time EC fan some money… Kevin.J, SpineTic, fast eddie and 4 others 6
Popular Post Robot Man
I would recommend instead of buying these, buy instead a few Russ Cochran real EC reprint books… Bill, Al and Harvey are rolling in their graves. shadroch
Sometimes, the art tells the story; sometimes, the art is a background to the story. I can like either. This is the type of book I look for in the $1 bin. I'm not familiar with the company, but it seems like they are well established. SpineTic
Semicentennial
I don't have an issue with the artwork. It's a horror comic book so my expectations aren't the same as other genres. The covers are pretty cool too. SpineTic
Popular Post Robot Man
I have a hard time calling this stuff EC “art”. THIS is EC art… Edited June 1 by Robot Man fast eddie, Unca Ben, Rip and 12 others
sfcityduck
The main flaw of EC was too many words. The words could drown out great artists and prevent the pics from dictating the pace. The exceptions being Kurtzman and, in a few iconic stories, Krigstein. Maybe these guys were trying to emulate Kristen but they failed spectacularly. Ryan.
Oni was never going to have the capital to pay the most top tier artists for this. The art is serviceable and the stories will likely focus more on mood, atmosphere and twist endings. Wally Wood ain't walking through the door. Popular Post Robot Man
Modern comics seem to have very little if any dialogue or story. Nothing like comics from the past. I actually learned to read from comics. It took a little time and effort to fully enjoy them. Folks today are lazy and in such a hurry. Modern comics reflect this. I have always felt that a good story line was equally important along with the art. Original ECs delivered both. These do not.
