The Claremont/Bolton mini series was fantastic when first released and holds up well today.  The artwork on the series was absolutely incredible and very memorable.

im amazed at how many folks still haven’t read it.

I don't know, but some of the Moore cognoscenti were speculating that this could be a 6-figure piece before the auction. :ph34r: I don't know that one would call $66K cheap, but, I didn't speak to anyone who was blown away by this result.

Well, it did sell in 2019 for $14.4K so that’s a nearly 350% increase.

secondly, IMHO, the “lesser” piece that sold recently for $60K has more appeal/desire to me than the page that sold in yesterday’s auction.  I think it ended where it needed to, and it wasn’t low to me.

Surprised no one has said it but no claws out may have made the difference on this one. Great detail in the art, but even one claw out may bring a couple extra bids into the 50-60k territory.
 

Amazing piece and detail, I think in today’s market someone got a slight deal.

It’s weird, I saw a post by Browning on FB saying he feels bad for the consignors and overall results being low. Not sure we’re all watching or interested in the same things, but based on most of the posts on this thread, overall market seems very healthy with a lot of high results. I could be wrong but my thought is Browning and others thinking there’s low results on Kirby specifically is there was so much on offer yesterday and the better stuff I thought did quite well. It was the not so good, less key characters, not early Marvel that didn’t fair as well. For instance, there’s been no mention of the Kirby FF 7 page, which was a good one and hit 84k! The Thor Kirby splash from 121 hit 50k+, opened up at less than 10k before floor and I thought I had a shot under 30k, based on a couple other splashes by Kirby/Colletta from later in the JIM run.

Again, there’s so much Kirby on offer, but the peak era Marvel Kirby, the earlier key issues and pages will do well, but those are rarely offered opposed to the “eh” pages and we then think the Kirby Market is dead. I forgot to mention another Kirby Avengers 1 page with a little Loki and mainly Hulk went for 100k+ yesterday, but let’s focus on the mid 70’s DC pages with lower results. 🤷‍♂️

I will add when you have 200+ floor lots it’s impossible for all of them to perform at higher levels, or I should say highly unlikely, and some slipped between the cracks, which we can highlight, but I thought it was few and far between. 

I should also add I value Browning’s weekly recaps and assessments. I’m sure there is some valid points he will make, but overall results seemed pretty strong.

Not mine... as a half splash w/o characters I was not willing to go that high but do understand the upcoming FF movie prob gave it some juice

Looking at the previous Signature Auction, V pages seem to have suddenly made a quantum leap in price.

Why?  For the longest time you could get them for four figures, and then they slowly crept up into just breaking five figures.  Then suddenly, from the last Signature Auction, there's been a jump into solid middle five figures.
