My takeaway from this thread is threefold:

(1) The 1950s had better art than the 1960s.

(2) A lot of the best 1950s artists had been active in the 1940s (or even the 1930s) and their art had improved remarkably -- Everett, Baker, etc. -- sadly some of those key guys would not survive through the 1950s or would quickly decline in the 1960s.

(3) If I had to pick one artist as the most skilled and polished, it would be Everett based on the covers I've seen.
