After scamming me and stealing a lot of money from me, I went to court against Wilhelm F. Uthe. It lasted almost two years and the end of it was more than disappointing as Uthe had conned so many people and institutions in his dirty life that he had even found a way to con himself out of paying me back my money.

He was living in Dreischenbreite 2, in Hameln, Germany. The only thing he owned was a property upon which a house with several apartments was build. However, the house that was built on his property did not belong to him but to someone else. In exchange for letting the owner of the house build the house on his property, Uthe was given an apartment to live in. The apartment however did not belong to him, but to the owner of the house and since someone else's house was built on Uthes' property, the court couldn't seize the property either. Upon this day neither my attorney, nor the DA have any idea how this had been accomplished by Uthe as this is clearly illegal in Germany.

The point is that Uthe did not have ANY possessions in his name that the court could seize. Therefore the court ordered that Uthe owes me a certain amount of money and will be owing it to me until he pays it back with interest in xx years. Unfortunately, the chance of ever seeing a single penny from him is of course 0

All of this ended about 18 months ago.

To my surprise, my attorney contacted me last week, informing me that in these last 18 months Uthe had been charged for fraud by his state and that he was convicted and finally............. went to prison a few weeks ago

Unfortunately prison in Germany is like vacation in a spa motel, but it is a start.

I honestly hate going to court against a private person and never had to do it before, but it certainly gives me some peace knowing that Uthe is slowly and FINALLY getting what he deserves.

Sorry you didn't get your money back yet, but it sounds like there at least was some measure of justice.

A scammer like Uthe (he ripped me off three decades ago with counterfeit international money orders) will do his prison time, and then pick up right where he left off. He may very well continue his con game and actually pay you back with other victims' money in order to avoid the court process.

When a legal system is so inept, sometimes a crook like Uthe gets introduced to something like the end of a baseball bat. I am not a person to advocate violence, but once in awhile someone else gets fed up and has simply had enough. I've seen it happen.

Thanks, guys.

There was a LOT of cooperation and help from the local police department, lawyers and marshals.

The chief of police in Hameln was even willing to serve as a witness in court. It seems like everyone in the area knew him and his despicable person and wanted to have him stopped.

Unfortunately not, as I was never present at any of the trials, but he was described to me as a short, greasy, troll like individual with short beard and belly in his late 50's :sick:

Wow! Here it is, more than 2 1/2 years since my last post about Uthe, and it's remarkable to know the saga continues and Uthe is still making people's lives miserable. Glad to hear that at least Uthe has been dragged through the legal system. I wish for you to get your money back (not sure of your situation or how much he owes you, but you have my sympathies whatever the details). Thanks for the follow-up and keep us informed of any future developments.

It's good to hear that karma does eventually catch up to losers such as this guy. This is the first I've heard of him but sounds like he's a real piece of work and has done some real dirty things to people. Hopefully he rots in that prison. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for everyone who was wronged by this guy to hopefully somehow and some way have their stuff/ money returned.

I am not a lawyer and have never played one on tv.

Well, the court order I have pretty much functions as a lien as well. I contacted the marshal in charge and was told that the house Uthe was living in was sold, which means that he no longer owns the property either. The problem is that the state itself (DA) went against him, to which Uthe obviously had to pay a lot (who knows how much and for what). Of course the state will always take first what it can get its hands on and then care for everybody else, so I am not sure if there is anything left for me to get.

My attorney is currently in contact with the DAs office and is trying to find out what exactly happened, what is left an possibly if any comics were seized etc..

That guy truly cost me a lot, but I am happy he is out of traffic for now :sorry:
