What is your job?

There are a number of regulars here and they all seem like pretty informed people on the subject of comics. But surely you are not all dealers. What do you do to bring home the bacon?

I am a copy editor and freelance writer in Taiwan currently working for the Central News Agency here (http://www.cna.com.tw). Yes, it is as dull as it seems, and no, I work on the English side.

Cheers.

I'm the Editor of The Official Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, co-author of The Official Overstreet Comic Book Grading Guide, Senior Editor for CINESCAPE Magazine, co-author of a book on DOCTOR WHO collectibles, and a college instructor teaching courses in comic book literature and time travel literature.

So I clearly have no real background for talking about comics, but I figured I'd show up anyway smile.gif.

I manufacture aircraft & commercial parts using my CNC machinery. I load parts into the machine then sit in front of the computer while they are running the part.

Sometimes my customers even pay me & when they do I spend a good chunk of that mainly on gold and silver comics. wink.gif

I'm a member of the cgc triad in Vancouver. We're all a bunch of introverted losers w/ acctg backgrounds & long boxes of bronze. 2 of us work w/ the Fed Gov't, so don't diss us or we will report u for fed tax audit. B/c we work for the fed & have fairly stable jobs, we have some cash left over at the end of the payday to buy some comics or orig art.

I am a Physical Therapist Assistant. I like my job and I love to read the boards when I have some spare time. I just have to watch out for the 1/2 raunchy icons like oldguy and a few others. My monitor faces the treatment area and the patients try to bring up sex on a regular basis and will find anything to spark that conversation. Sex after 60 is not a topic of conversation I care to hear or be demonstrated. doh!!

I'm a Project Manager for an Electrical Contractor in the DC/Metro area. We do all types of commercial electrical work, and most of our contracts come from the government. I am currently working on two projects -- The National Archives Renovation and the US District Courthouse Renovation and Annex. It's interesting work, kinda fell into it (the old saying holds true....It's not what you know, it's who you know). Also, still taking classes trying to finish English degree (I have no idea how this relates to my occupation tongue.gif )

I am a Research Project Co-ordinator working on projects related to familial cancer.

I sell stuff on e-bay and at conventions because I love comics (I've been reading comics since 1973 and collecting since 1976) and to supplement my own collecting habits without off-setting my wages - I collect DVDs, art books, hardcover collections, original art and prints (as well as new issues every week).
