In Halle Berry, they have an Oscar winning actress, and yet can anyone remember a single notable line from her, or notable scene involving her, in the first two movies?

What about that killer scene when she's laying by the pool in the lounge chair...hmmm, actually, that was different movie but it was highly notable! thumbsup2.gif

swordfish ..... storm and wolvie b4 they found out they were muties...and howard saint .... just because yay.gif

I went to my LCS today and overheard one of the employees saying that the movie sucked because some of the male characters that are in the comics are females in the movie and vice versa. Is this true or is the LSC employee just a whack job?

All employees' who work at comic stores are whack jobs..think about it, they work in a comic store...

so what was that scene at the end of the credits about?

Nothing much.

Just a possible opening for a new series.

I dint expect mutant death count to be so high...

and what way to go for prof

Hmmm. Given the harsh comments here and elsewhere, lowered expectations overall, and the fact that i really dislike Brett Ratner... I thought X3 was okay. Parts were quite good, actually, though it was rather uneven. Not as good as X2 or even the first one (which i liked more than most). Wonder if it's because i'm not that much of an X-Men fan - other than Astonishing, i haven't read it since the mid-80s.

I actually thought the characterization was fine, though apparently a bit too subtle for some. poke2.gif And the fact that they didn't go into the "origins" of several characters was a big plus in my book. I didn't care much for how they used Phoenix, but i never cared for her in the comics either. I'm an old-timer who prefered when she was still Marvel Girl. 27_laughing.gif

X-Men 3 was awesome. Better than the first and as good as the second. I think people are going into it with a negative pre-conception of Ratner and not seeing what is in front of them. Could Singer have done a better job with the -script? Maybe. Maybe not. But overall this movie was just fine. For everyone that is just repeating the same line that all the critics have been spouting, "it doesn't have character development", I challenge you to tell me how the first two had any more character development. They didn't. The characters that got screen time, Jean, Logan, Ororo, etc. were furthered as characters go. The mutants that were there for the sake of being there, Collosus, Juggernaut etc had no character development. They weren't meant to, just like Sabretooth and Kitty in the previous movies. Don't get me wrong, this movie is made for entertainment, not as a character study. In that it succeeds, and does a fantastic job.

I liked it as well. We finally get that all out battle scene for the conclusion. I liked X-2 a lot, but was really disappointed with the ending...........the multi mutant vs. multi mutant action sequences were non-existant in that film.

I liked it a lot as well. My biggest complaint is that there were TOO many plotlines!

"Do you know who I am? I'm Juggernaut, [embarrassing lack of self control]!"

I MUST get that .wav.

My biggest issue with it is that Jean's death wasn't really heartfelt. Didn't feel that lump in the throat that should have come. As someone else mentioned, the origin of Phoenix was pretty lame. She didn't even look like a freakin' Phoenix (flames in a birdlike manner), so why call her that.

Angel's role was absolutely pointless. Would have been one thing if he was a background character.

Enjoyed Pryde's role in the film. The Iceman/Pryde thing was disturbing largely due to the age of the actor's.

Colossus' armored form took a big down turn. Not sure how X-men 3 is years after X-men 2, yet the cinematography is worse.

What happened to Nightcrawler? Wasn't he a breakout in #2? Actor not sign up?

Cyclops situation shocked me. Obviously, we didn't see a body or what happened. So, that means he's probably fine.

Also, why do Iceman and Pyro now hate each other's guts??? Pyro left the X-men on good terms with Iceman. Then next thing you know Pyro's personality just changes drastically to being a complete in no time.

In the 2nd film, Pyro i shown looking sad/angry at a family pic in Iceman's house... he was obviously jealous of what Bobby had. I don't remember if there was anything else established with that, but I'm gonna say he was jealous about Rogue too.

As for the movie, the action sequences were great, and like the comic come to life at times, but the other stuff... umm, not always so good (I hate to bring my comic geek into this, but yeah Phoenix was all wrong- though Famke is great). But it's still worth checking out, at least.

I am just getting in from the theatre...

I LOVED it! I thought it was a great X-Men film!

One of the best parts had to be, as others have mentioned, the line from Vinnie Jones (Juggernaut)... hilarious! There was a comic geek sitting beside me and he thought it was great as well.

Another cool thing for Lara and I, was that we have been on Jean Grey's childhood home street many, many times! It was filmed on the road that my soon to be uncle in law lives on. He had a few of the cast in his house having coffee and got a couple of mugs and other cheasy tokens. Wish it was my place!

At the end, the comic geek got up to leave and I said "You'll want to hang on". He did and we got to talking, turns oput he is a huge X-Men fan and he thought it was great as well.

All in all, I'd give it a 4 out of 5 on the Johnny G scale thumbsup2.gif

"I'm the Juggernaut &@!#$!" was the best part.

Just goes to show that an internet meme can influence Hollywood if it's funny enough. That line is proof, as is the entire "Snakes On A Plane" marketing campaign.

X3 was horrible. I thought the first two movies worked well but this latest instalment is demonstrably the weakest of the trilogy. Why (how long have you got)? The blink and you miss them cameos, the total lack of characterisation of the principal players (the betrayal of Mystique, Magneto & Scott really stuck in the craw) and an ending that made no sense at all left me more than a little disappointed. Poor show.

funny, yesterday as i was passing on a DVD store and the initial scene of X2 was being presented on the screen (nightcrawler attack) the thought of "this scene alone is far more superior than the whole X3 movie" came into my mind. foreheadslap.gif

to bad X3 left a rather shallow and bitter taste on the triology...it would be nice that appart spidey to have a decent/quality comic book adaptation movie run.

guess i'll be saving some $ on the DVD grin.gif

regards

ps- as for you who say "where are the characterization moments on the X2?!", go watch it again... grin.gif

The people around me were cheering when Juggernaut said, " I'm the Juggernaut, u b@tch." Some woman behind me thought X3 was the best of the 3.

It was far better than I expected due to the many battle scenes. Too bad they ran out of budget before they could do a proper Phoenix bird flare-up effect near the end as Jean was destroying the medical base on the island. popcorn.gif

Enjoyed Pryde's role in the film. The Iceman/Pryde thing was disturbing largely due to the age of the actor's.

Funny thing is, the guy that plays Iceman is in his late twenties and definetly looks younger. And the girl that played Kitty Pride is actually 18 when she looks like she's about 12. 27_laughing.gif

My tickets... thumbsup2.gif

I saw it in a terrific new theatre, The brand new Red Rock Casino and Hotel.

It has fantastic seating, top of the line sound system, bar none and was packed.

Probably the best movie theatre in Vegas, until the next mega casino is built... headbang.gif
