Another ho-hum war comic sale.

link

It was snapped up quite fast.

Why is this book worth that much???

It's really cool and there's only one 9.4 and no 9.2s. (shrug)

Cool book fo sho, but that is a LOT of dough for that comic, methinks.

But hey, 9.4 on anything silver means big money these days.

WOW!!! :o:cloud9: Even if this thread was DC only this book would

be an incredible exception. Beautiful Book Mick and a Russ Heath

cover. :cloud9::applause: :applause: :applause:

I see why Dan has re-named this thread but he has the name wrong

and I think Fay would fit in nicely and I promise I would take

good care of our books Mick. (thumbs u

Which one of you sneeky snipers beat me out of the OAAW 68 last night? :frustrated:

:luhv: Look at that incredible blue on that cover. :cloud9:

There's another cover I've never seen before and it's a beauty. (thumbs u

I think Russ Heath must have had a strong dislike for Communism

or he really liked the flamethrower. hm

I wonder if Buttock or Dan won any of those Atlas books up for auction

last night. How about showing us a few recent Atlas wins Dan. :wishluck:

Is it possible that some of the confusion about this thread being specific to DC war has anything to do with the current title (RE: OAAW 83)?

How do we change that? It's a bit misleading (though I know it certainly wasn't intended as such).

This thread is and has always been about war comics extending far beyond Rock, OAAW, and DC war in general.

I don't think that's the reason, just that the majority of war book collectors here, prefer DC hands down. Or that's the way I've gathered it, anyway. Let's have a vote.

Heck, I can't even vote, I love all these publisher's war titles. It's like choosing one of your children! lol

I just get a big kick out of the genre altogether whether it's being serious or tongue-in-cheek.

BTW, you forgot EC :gossip:

I bid on twenty or so of them, came away with two of the nicer Atlas books and two DCs. I will post them when they land.

It's bad luck to discuss Ebay wins until they have arrived. But here's another Heath flamethrower book.

Sweet !!!

Don't know whether he did or not but Stan Lee wrote quite a few anti-Commie stories and set the editorial direction for Atlas so I presume either he was the driver or was directed to feature that theme by Goodman.

It was part of the times. America in general was very anti-communism. McCarthy era and all. Not surprising that it found its way into comics.

Had nothing to do with those sweet, peace-loving Soviet commies.

I voted Atlas because I'm mainly a pre-code collector - but for Silver Age I'd pick DC

And I agree EC should be on the list - I might have picked it over Atlas (better stories vs. better covers)
