Something about black covers and war books go hand in hand.

I thought it was pink covers and war comics. ;)

Very nice set of books -- a Heath, a Kubert and a Grandenetti! :applause:

hm You could be right and I do remember saying that with OAAW 85

coming to mind and I know I love :cloud9: the green colors DC used

on their war books. The black and yellow that was combined on OFF

25 is stunning. The more I think about there are not many color

combinations on DC war books I don't enjoy. hm

Thanks for the compliments on the Showcase 45 you guys and I've

been looking for un upgrade for over three years now. I'm normally not

a slabber of books and would love to one day own that book in a

CGC 8.0 to 9.0 Slab. Of course I would never sell my cherished

undercopy. :cloud9: My first BIG money book at a whopping 70.00

about four years ago.

I sure hope our friend Jeff has time this weekend to step this thread

up a notch if that's even possible lately. :wishluck:

I love these boards and this thread Rocks!! :headbang:

Started looking through some boxes and realized that there are some cool war subgenres that aren't always showcased as much as others.

Rock inside a HT story! Hale-yeah! Bought this back when dealers used to look at war collectors like our elevator didn't quite make it to the top. Mwa ha ha ha ha!!! Those were hella fun days.

I always thought that the mug on the awake GI looked like Novick. . .not Novick's style. . .Novick's own face. Wonder if Grandenetti knew Novick. Man, I love these washtones more than life itself.

Always thought this dinosaur cover was one of the coolest. Contains a hell of a nice Heath story as well.

Speaking of Heath, this cover just oozes anticipated-hell breaking loose juxtaposed against a relatively static pose. NOBODY can pull that off like Heath. Check the shadows in the soldier's eyesockets. . .the folds in the drapery of his fatigues. I'd never seen this cover; and when I bought it, it was only described to me without a scan. I was buying sight-unseen, so you can imagine my surprise when it arrived in the mail.

Nothing mindblowing but a few nice books. Considering what's been posted lately might not be possible. Maybe I can take the thread down a notch. lol

I see this book A LOT on ebay. Seems quite common. Thoughts?

It does seem to pop up pretty commonly... but I'm still looking for 7.0 - 8.0 upgrade.

One of these less successful greytone, imho. But still... it's #100!!!

I had beautiful copies of 100, 101, 102 years ago. I was making a trade of a box full of books for a More Fun 14 and forgot they (and a perfect 138) were in there. When I found out I kicked myself for weeks.

Oh well, at least they weren't Heath covers.

Been truly enjoying everybody's comics. An adrenaline rush to be sure.

I NEVER get tired of Grandenetti. . .
