Mick, which of the GI Combat washtones have you found to be the most difficult to find? Both in grade, and in general.

Don't exactly feel like advertising which ones still elude me, BUT (and I'm using that as a conjunction, not as a nickname) I believe 76 is amongst the toughest in grade.

Hmmmm. . .in general. Easiest would be the 87. Since that broke out, it's been fairly accessible. In general, I don't see much of 69 or 85.

Hellsbells, they're ALL difficult in comparison to just about ANY DC genre from that same time period (except maybe funny animal or romance)! I was going to say tougher than Marvels/Atlases from that same time period, but I think that most of the Atlas war books are on par or tougher to get (certainly in grade) than the DC war books from the same time period.

Then again, I've been looking for A LOT of DC war books (washtone or no) for nearly 20 years with no luck. A lot of people are under the impression that I'm complete because I've been doing it for so long, but for the 10¢ers that I collect (which doesn't include the first 2 years of DC war), I'm only about 40% complete. So this poor starving war comics collector will work for high grade war (or trade)!

This copy is insanely nice in person -- beautiful pages and colors! (worship)

For a non-Salida or non-Newsboy, it's amongst the nicest there are.

This one ain't anything to sneeze at either.

This is definitely the nicest copy of this book that I've seen. Sweet! ^^

God, I love that book Mick... and it's true - as nice as they look here on the screen, they are just SCREAMING live and in person!!!!

You're so right about #76. It's really tough, and the one I never ever see in grades above FN.

Something about black covers and war books go hand in hand.

I thought it was pink covers and war comics. ;)

Very nice set of books -- a Heath, a Kubert and a Grandenetti! :applause:

hm You could be right and I do remember saying that with OAAW 85

coming to mind and I know I love :cloud9: the green colors DC used

on their war books. The black and yellow that was combined on OFF

25 is stunning. The more I think about there are not many color

combinations on DC war books I don't enjoy. hm

Thanks for the compliments on the Showcase 45 you guys and I've

been looking for un upgrade for over three years now. I'm normally not

a slabber of books and would love to one day own that book in a

CGC 8.0 to 9.0 Slab. Of course I would never sell my cherished

undercopy. :cloud9: My first BIG money book at a whopping 70.00

about four years ago.

I sure hope our friend Jeff has time this weekend to step this thread

up a notch if that's even possible lately. :wishluck:

I love these boards and this thread Rocks!! :headbang:

Did somebody mention pink covers?

My students often ask me what my favorite color is; and, to their astonishment, I unflinchingly tell them pink. I take great pleasure in punching holes through preposterous antiquated gender stereotypes. And though, in truth, I don't really care either way about colors, I have no problem admitting that some of my favorite covers of ALL time are of a pink motif. Here're just a few:

Ask me the questions, bridge-keeper. I'm not afraid!

EVERY war book is a key if it contains Kubert, Heath, Drucker, and/or Severin, and has a Grandenetti cover.

Amen, brother! :headbang:
