I was lucky enough to get these two books signed in Baltimore by the legend Russ Heath! :cloud9:

This is my all-time favorite Heath cover. I love the composition, the tones, the action, the dragon teeth, the tank blazing, everything. :acclaim:

Beautificialous, sir! That GIC definitely IS one of the best covers in the entire run. The Perty Thirty were relentless. . .all the way to the end of the run!

Sometimes Heath isn't an option.... and we have to settle for some old purple thing with a Frogman on the cover and a Drucker and Easy prototype inside :cloud9: GOD BLESS...

Grandenetti cover. Love the perspective. While not in the same league as Heath or Kubert, imo, he drew some fantastic covers.

i was just the opposite; me and my buddies who collected threw rocks at d.c. war, and had eyes only for fury and the howlers.

I wasn't much of a war comic fan back when I was a kid, but would read Sgt. Fury now and then as it was part of the Marvel universe. The only DC war books I found interesting were ones with Enemy Ace stories - found as back issues, as this was the early 70s. Though I liked DC's horror books as well as it's "weird" heroes like The Spectre and Jonah Hex, I don't think I ever read an issue of Weird War.

He certainly doesn't get the recognition he deserves. And to an extent, I agree.

Totally agreed on the lack of recognition.

Have been collecting DC Westerns but browsing this thread and blown away by some of the great covers. Now have a hit list of DC war #'s. Thanks all for the inspiration.

Here are some nice Sgt Fury's I got a few years ago - in hand don't look as if they have been read.
