Largest run you've pieced together

177 posts in this topic

Largest Run? Hmm, seems like a lot of you guys have out done me on Batman. I have issue 127 to present and my Detective runs from 317 to present. I'll be happy if I can get 100 to present on Batman and 275 to present on Detective. Those issues from the '50's are tough to find in 6.0 or better. Not too long ago I finished Flash 105 to 170 also. Not a huge run but I'm happy with the accomplishment. I'm currently trying to finish my SA Green Lantern run and build on my JLA run.

I once had a complete TOD and WWT-Jonah Hex series. I was also about 90% complete on my Conan run. I sold off my entire collection around 6 years ago when I bought my house, I have been rebuilding every since. I am currently working on a few sets including Conan, DD and Spidey.

Never attempted a run before.

that's funny....I've never collected anything but runs or complete series, can't stand having a single or a few books from any series, all or nothing...

Different strokes and all.... thumbsup2.gif

As far as I know there is a guy in St John's who has a 100% complete spawn collection including the BW special. I am still missing some including the BW #1

I am confident that my runs of ASM, Spawn, Wolverine, and Daredevil are all the most complete on the planet. Not bragging, it is just my OCD talking.

Although not up to date...

My greatest run was my X men run. I had the following issues:

1 PGX 8.0

2 CGC 9.2

3 CGC 9.0

4 CGC 8.5

5 CGC 9.0

6 CGC 9.2

7 CGC 8.5

8 CGC 8.5

9 CGC 9.0

10 CGC 9.2

and then about 1/2 the issues up to # 66 in 9.4 or greater (raw and CGC).

My X men from # 95 to about 300 or so were about 99% complete in raw 9.4-9.8. (my X men #101 graded out a 9.8 white) Funny, but i have never owned a copy of # 94.

I got rid of it because even though I love the Xmen, there where many covers that i was not a huge fan of because of the poor inks on Kirby's pencils and then some of the mid 60's artists. I now am a bit more eclectic in my tastes. I have wittled my collection down quite a bit recently due to my separation but still hang on to the odd books and love my JIM Thors!

Well, I won't go into what I USED to have before Aug 3 1983, but I just started collecting again...

I have Uncanny X-men Annual #6-to present, #s 93-156, 268-458, 460-present (my #94 & 100 SUCKS, but the rest of the 93-156 range from at least F/VF to NM - most in the VF/NM range - got them as a lot on ebay for a LOT less than I thought I would have to pay)

FF 168-324, a few in the 400's

ASM #s 302-391

Anita Blake #s 1-2 lol

I unfortunately have a bad case of "run completion" disease... want to complete too many runs (everything from all the major Marvel superhero series that originated in the sixties to every non-humor EC comic) and so I never complete any of them. I'm also hindered by the fact that I want them in high grade (for me defined as at least VF for Golden Age, VF/NM for Silver Age, and NM for Bronze Age).

I've been at it since the seventies and have thus far managed to complete one run... Iron Man... which was the first run I set out to complete. I think the next one I'll finish will be Gold Key Star Trek (just need a #2) and hopefully not too far behind will be X-Men (just seven more issues to go!). Now that I think of those Star Treks, I have managed to complete Gold Key runs of Outer Limits and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, but those are relatively short runs.
