Guess the CGC grade: Superman #11...

30 posts in this topic

Just for fun. This book isn't mine; it's currently up on ebay (no fair guessing if you've seen it already). Flaws are pretty apparent from the scan. No back cover scan, but assume no major problems on the back. What grade would you assign to this book?

4.5

not the best at grading GA books, so i'm throwing myself to the wolves on this one. that's a pretty nasty water stain, but the rest of the book - at least from that ridiculously pixellated scan flowerred.gif - looks pretty good to me

Well, if it's been purple'd I'll say 4.0 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Seems to me like PLOD'ed golden age like these always get a hair higher than they should. confused-smiley-013.gif

Actually, I think restored GA books tend to be graded rather tough by CGC (IMO). I've seen many restored books that look much nicer than the assigned grade.

Therefore, my guess on this Supes #11 is a 3.5

pretty decent looking book, but with the trimming (which should be considered a defect) and that bigazz water stain, i'm gonna guess on the low end and go 3.5.....

(having second thoughts because of that infamous 2.5 action #1........hell, i'll stick with 3.5..........)

I'd call it a 3.0/3.5 with that much water damage but CGC will probably bump it to 4.0 at least. And I wouldn't be shocked if it was 4.5. 5.0 would be pushing it.
