I vaguely recall some comic critic saying in years past that this period in the FF was a lull, which surprised me because as much as I love the grand space opera stuff that came later, I discovered these books later via used book stores and I loved how each issue balanced cool science fiction concepts with interpersonal stories and gave you a complete, worthwhile experience in one book.

Anything might suffer in comparison to the heights reached in the ‘65-‘66 issues, but I wouldn’t describe that era as a lull.

Funny, but it's amazing how much that subtle change influences the emotion. Thing looks surprised and shocked in the US version, and monstrous/angry in the German.
