Scrooge
Here's another hole - FC 1253 from 50 years ago: Jan / March 1962. Unfortunately, the interiors aren't by Wally Wood but rather by Jack Sparling ...

Hepcat
Have all the Brownies Four Colors been posted? I had a chance to buy a few high grade ones 15-20 years ago but I had no interest at the time ... and now of course I wish I'd scooped them up. 50YrsCollctngCmcs
Here's a scan of another all too often underappreciated Four Color title: Excellent shape. Hepcat, Did your Four Colors come out of a single collection? They all look to be in nice shape and unlike most Four Colors of the era that were read to death. Or are they file copies? They don't strike me as file copies though.
Hepcat
My Four Colors all came from different places at different times. Some are indeed File copies. These I've tried to indicate whenever possible. Edited January 23, 2012 by Hepcat

BangZoom
Here is a sample of what is inside the Yak Yak comic. I love Jack Davis' humor work. When I was a kid I collected the You'll Die Laughing, Funny Valentine, and other gum card sets he illustrated.
Hepcat
So did I! And I've since reassembled my childhood collection! First my Jack Davis Wacky Plaks from 1959: Now here are photos/scans of my 1959 You'll Die Laughing cards and wrapper: Edited January 26, 2012 by Hepcat
Hepcat
The Topps Jack Davis Funny Valentines cards are one of the most beloved items in my collection. They're not scarce, they're not expensive, but I remember them in the schoolyard and the Jack Davis artwork is just too cool! The first set was issued in 1959: Here is a picture of the original art to one of the Funny Valentine cards that I've framed and have hanging in my comic room:: The Funny Valentines A set was issued in 1960: The Giant Funny Valentines were issued in 1961 and then reissued in 1966. The 1961 cards have red-orange backs while the 1966 reissue has bright red backs. The 1966 reissue was also printed in both the U.S. and Canada. They're easy to differentiate because the U.S. version was printed on white card stock while the Canadian version was printed on grey card stock. The fine print on the back also tells you in which country the cards were printed. U.S.A. Canada Edited January 24, 2012 by Hepcat

frozentundraguy
A couple more rips and staple pull and THEN I'll be able to afford it Agreed, Hepcat has some awesome standards in his collection. (thumbs u I have no excuses, though this book was part of a 50 books for 50 bucks lot, I picked up a few years ago. BTW, is anyone tracking this thread to see if all 1354 issues get posted? I seem to recall reading that early on in this thread.
