just picked up the tpb of the first arc, and was mightily impressed. Ellis and JH Williams (one of the most under appreciated artists ever to work in comics) at the very top of the game. Highly recommended!

A side note...if you guys haven't read 21 down(I know it's old), i have just finished ready the 1-12 and it is just an awesome series with nice Jusko covers.

I liked the trade well enough, although the parallels to Moorcock's Jerry Cornelius, the Maltese Falcon and the Prisoner were a bit too obvious.

 

Unfortunately the artwork on #7 looked jarringly awful to me after JH Williams III and Mick Gray's excellent job on the first six so I'm not really eager to read the second storyarc.

Yes, in my opinion, these are must reads

I enjoyed the first arc of DJ. But my interest did start to peter out as the first arc was ending. I really thought that Ellis had intended it to be a mini-series and wished it had stayed that way. But I've picked up #7 and should be reading it this weekend. It might help to have a new direction/story arc.

 

I guess my point is, I don't know if I'd put it in the same breath as Fell or even the Boys. Fell is just out-of-this world good. I'd put Fell and Walking Dead on a pedestal that few can sit next to. The Boys is very solid but I'm not sure, at least for me, that it has proven to be a Fell or Walking Dead. A lot of gratitious sexual scenes so far and not a whole lot of story plot revelations. But it really has only begun and we'll see in time.
