Socratic Wonder
Gatherings from today's Sacramento Convention: Matt Baker and Jack Kamen (?? There's a Rulah story) goodness: I've been wanting to read some Black Cat for a while. This one was from HouseofComics (who I'm always happy to buy from) and the price was reasonable: Another HouseofComics purchase. Late run Fight Comics with nice deep colors: (Those late run FH books make me sad because you can see how downhill the company has slid. They pale in comparison to what the company was doing just a few years earlier.) And these two aren't GA, but I'm going to show them off anyway: At the rate I'm buying Sugar and Spikes, I should have a full run around 2050. Nice haul Sean!!! (thumbs u

BB-Gun
Another skypinkblu book added to my meager Golden Age collection. Blue Beetle 22, June 1943. Really amateurish cover, isn't it? Did Quinlan draw it? An office boy? Jack Jack, That doesn't look like Quinlan's work. I think he did the cover to 24 and I know he did the interior splash. bb

GreatEscape
Missed out on two books from last night's ComicConnect auction but I did score a nice consolation prize on Comiclink: I love the cool Eisner cover and it's a Rockford copy! Glad to see ComicConnect's Fight #5 Rockford copy (only a 7.0) that I was bidding on sell for considerably more. If the cosigner was a board member... many thanks! TheEyeSees
My Lord GE, that is an awesome book!!! have always loved that cover. I was watching the FIGHT #5 on CC too ... got too rich for my blood, but I think it was a fair price. How cool is that cover?? ped copy to boot. But if #3 is the consolation prize, sign me up for the booby prize!!
Point Five
I agree, and I've never seen that one before. What a cool cover! The scale of the guy and the destroyed buildings immediately made me think of Lou Fine's cover on Fantastic Comics #3...and on further reflection, I don't think it's a coincidence. This cover is by Eisner, and both this cover and Fantastic #3 came out of the Eisner/Iger shop, with cover dates just one month apart.

sacentaur
Got this in today - presents better than the mid-grade assigned (great colors), was sold with full disclosure (manufactured with an extra set of staples), and has great pages (o/w to w). I know we tend to focus on the two big auction houses (Heritage and CLink), but I've had just great luck finding the type of books I'm looking for from other reputable and honest dealers as well. Anyway, I am VERY happy with this book, which is not seen nearly as often as the Catman 1 (another great book). Thanks again to Brent (Quality Comix) and Marnin (CollectorsAssemble.net) for this item, which I give two thumbs up:
