Straw-Man Posted May 28, 2008 Share Posted May 28, 2008 I give it 3 months in your collection before you sell it. You golden age guys are as fickle with your "grails" as a modern variant collector. Still, a really cool and interesting book. Andy, very true..... though, not all GA collectors, mainly just me and my "grails" this one, this one i plan to have around for much longer......... i know this because there is no other book in the world i would rather have! B. It's not just you though. I have noticed a lot of golden age collectors go nuts over a book and then sell it soon after. I am occasionally guilty of it myself...though I only ever had one book that I considered a grail, my Mask 2, and that will never be sold. The one that takes the absolute cake is the guy who made a post about how he had been waiting for a 9.0 copy of ASM 13 for forever, and how this was his grail that he wanted more than anything. The book popped up in the marketplace THE SAME FREAKIN DAY. That one about knocked me out of my chair. It's not the having, it's the acquiring. Nope, it's the having. What about the looking? and the touching, and the stroking, and the caressing on those hot sticky nights....and the.... i was doing okay with the post 'til "sticky." i have a few of that guy's former books in my collection. Black Lantern Posted May 28, 2008 Share Posted May 28, 2008 the short story about this book: a friend of mine found this flash comics 100 on a flee market in vienna/austria. it cost him 1 euro and he gave it to me as a gift because he knows that i love golden age books. the real interesting historical aspect of this book is the "US-Zone" stamp in the right corner. as you know, after WWII vienna was split in 4 different areas/zones which where controlled by the US, UK, Russian and French army's. this book must have been shipped to the US-Zone where a GI bought it, and later left it when he went back home. it is really unbelievable that it survived that long and it makes me curious, if other books have survived here in austria. We know also about the so-called 'Ore' books from scandinavia and I have two books that were sold in Italy including my Sheena 15 below. The price is 150 Liras. I was an LB Cole nut back in the late '90s and I really wanted those two books (I love both covers, but for some reason #1 in particular really haunts me). I still do want them, but moved on to different collecting interests and just haven't been willing to shell out the dough. Congrats to you guys who scored 'em! Two gorgeous covers.
